I have an alnoco Tone Tubby and to me, it's a great speaker. The CR uses an actual Tone Tubby cone so I don't see how you can go wrong.

I had one in an Avatar 1x12 cab for my Ghia. It was a clean & warm speaker with little breakup. I didn't like the top end, so I sold it. Speakers are s-o-o-o-o-o subjective. Nothing wrong with the C-Rex....just didn't do it for me. I've seen others rave about it.

I am running three C-Rex's in two cabinets. On another thread I detailed how it took my RX to a whole new level. Now, I alternate using these cabs between my RX, my MAZ and occasionally my Ghia. I love 'em.

hey Phil, does it give you enough "clean" headroom w/ the ghia? that's really my concern. wanting that sweet warm breakup but not too early. thanks, JC %^)>

Clean? I dunno. I had the conjunctive filter problem (see "conjuctive filter mayhem" in the Ghia section). I simply removed the filter parts, after which I was enjoying cranking it so much I didn't really explore the nuances of it.
I have band practice tomorrow - I'll try to get there early and give it a workout and let you know.
However, they seem to be fairly efficient, and they don't seem add any breakup of thier own.
What guitar are you using, mainly? I'll try and pull out something similar.

The C-Rex breakup is listed as "slow", meaning it's slow to breakup. In comparison, I have a Tonker that is very clean, yet they list it as having "medium" breakup. The C-Rex is one clean & loud speaker and won't give you warm breakup with a Ghia. The majority of breakup you'll get is from the amp and that will be at pretty loud levels because of the C-Rex's sensitivity. It's rated at 102 db I think. Emi's general description is "Clean and full, with lots of body and sparkle. Smokey smooth with high-end definition." Use this chart for reference. editweb.iglou.com/eminence/eminence/pages/resources02/tonalguide.htm

Using a G&L S-500 (single coils), the amp seemed to behave the same as it did going through the 2x10s in my MAZ or 1x12 Mesa cab with Black Shadow.
Clean until about 1:00, large boost in volume at 2:00 and that's where it starts to break up.
So your headroom will be whatever the amp gives you, rather than limited by the speaker.

I think the amount of headroom depends on how hard you're hitting the speaker. The CR does not have a very large magnet, and my 50 watter overloads the speaker with bass when used in a 2x12. This gives the impression of losing headroom.
However, a Tone Tubby ceramic, with a big ole' 60 oz. magnet, holds its stuff together just fine in the same situation. For your Ghia, I would think that the smaller magnet CR would be OK. If you find yourself liking the tone, but needing more headroom, the ceramic Tone Tubby might fit the bill.
