I'm new to the forum and consider it an honor to be here, so I hope I do this correctly I would like either a Monza (new MV version) or a Maz 8. I play exclusively at home. I need "bedroom volume". I like '70s and 80's hard & heavy rock: Sabbath; UFO--"Force It" album, "Rock Bottom" song; Paul Kossoff (Free--"Fire and Water album); Tommy Bolin; as well as NWOBHM and Dokken ("Tooth and Nail" album); Zeppelin I never play clean. Les Paul's (Burstbuckers & 498T) straight into the amp. no pedals. I like "power amp tube distortion" the best Sorry, I keep editing PLEASE RECOMMEND

Not sure how you're going to keep a Monza at bedroom volume!
Now, if you use the Maz8s EQ bypass and ad an OD pedal, you can crank at much lower volumes (with a BL).

THANK YOU ALL FOR THE SUGGESTION (JAUARGUY) YOU HAVE VALIDATED WHAT I WAS THINKING (MONZA), BUT DAVE BAKER'S VIDEOS HAD ME REALLY THINKING ABOUT THE MAZ 8--CAN THAT GUY PLAY, OR WHAT??? TJNIES, THANKS FOR THE SUGGESTION (PEDALS)--BUT I'M A PURIST (A LA OLD SCHOOL NUGENT--"NO TOYS IN BETWEEN TO MESS UP THE SIGNAL"). PEDALS ARE FINE, JUST NOT FOR ME WOULDN'T THE NEW MV MOD ON THE MONZA MAKE IT USEFUL FOR BEDROOM LEVELS? I'M IN THE PROCESS OF SELLING GEAR TO FUND MY NEW PURCHASE (YOU KNOW HOW THAT GOES), INCLUDING A MINI-Z THAT I RECENTLY SOLD--EVEN WITH THE ATTENUATOR, IT WAS TOO LOUD FOR MY SETTING, BUT I LOVED THE SOUND. AT THE MOMENT, I'M LEANING MONZA. Read more: ztalk.proboards.com/thread/54705/monza-maz-8?scrollTo=612706&page=1#ixzz2IzhZjAtK

Welcome to the forum. For the music you're doing, I'd agree with Monza. The MAZ 8 is an absolutely splendid amp, but why pay for features that you won't use much? With humbuckers into a Monza, well.... I'm not sure if the MV can get you to bedroom volume -- don't have my Monza modded yet -- but Mike (jaguarguy), Todd (pcns) and others can give you the scoop on that.

MV can definitely get you to bedroom levels! I keep mine in my living room to noodle around on while the wife is watching TV!

+1,000!!! Rockinroll, musically you are a man after my own heart. I understand using a pedal or rack mount for echo, flanging, or reverb, but I don't understand using pedals for distortion when your amp should be producing great distortion for you. Further, the best articulation (and by that I mean the way your rig conveys all the subtle nuances of what your hands are doing) obtainable comes from plugging your guitar straight into your amp, with nothing in between. From what I read, though, you and I appear to be in the minority. A lot of folks like using pedals and some of them seem as serious about their pedal selections as they are about their guitar and amp selections. These folks probably scratch their heads and wonder about us "purists" in the same way we scratch our heads and wonder why someone would spend two or three thousand dollars for an amp and then override its tone with a $100 stomp box. Oh well... And by the way, welcome to the forum.

I FEEL SO WELCOMED HERE. YOU ALL ARE "Z"GREATEST!!! THANKS FOR THE ENCOURAGEMENT, DOCTORICE, AND THANKS FOR THE POINT OF CLARIFICATION JAGUARGUY. I THINK I'VE PRETTY WELL DECIDED ON THE MONZA. IT WAS WHAT I ORIGINALLY INTENDED, BUT HEARING DAVE BAKER DEMO THE MAZ 8 REALLY HAD ME THINKING... AHHH, cpa2guitar, WE ARE A NEAR EXTINCT BIRD. NOTHING AGAINST PEDALS; WHATEVER MAKES A PERSON HAPPY, AYE? BUT I LOVE "PURE DISTORTION" (HOW MUCH OF AN OXYMORON IS THAT!!!). I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE TECHNICAL NAME IS, BUT I LOVED THE WAY THE MONZA "SQUEAKED" IN procablesnsound'S DEMO (around 1:12, when he's demoing the "dying battery fuzz" sound). NEVER REALLY KNEW HOW TO DESCRIBE IT: LISTEN TO SABBATH VOL. 4 OR "MOBY ****" I LOVE THAT NOISE
