I have been running a Mesa 1x12 closed back cab or a Mesa 2x12 closed back cab with my Ghia. I have a Maz Sr. on the way and I wasthinking of finding a matching Z cab. WOuld a Z 1x12 cab be signficantly differnet than my Mesa? Also, if I got a Z 1x12 could I run it out of the Maz Sr. head with the MEsa 1x12 also. THe mesa is 4ohm. How would I run the two 1x12 cabs. together? Help.

The Mesa closed back will be a different sound, first because of the closed back (as far as I know, DrZ only offers the open-back 1X12). Speakers are another factor, as Mesa uses their own design (pretty much a Black Widow), while Z loads 12" Celestions. With my Mesa, it's much darker than the Z cabs.. On your other question...Z's cabs are 8 ohm (always?), so you would have a rather difficult time running a 8 ohm and a 4 ohm cab (what's that - a 5.3 ohm load in parallel?) of course you could get a Weber Z-matcher and try that, or you could simply load an 8 ohm speaker in your Mesa cab...

Actually I think My Mesa is 8ohm. I screwed up.
How would I run two 8 ohm speakers.

ahh no problem..get a y-cable or a 2-into-1 adapter (2 1/4 inch female jacks into 1 male 1/4 inch jack) and then plug into the 4 ohm jack.
course, another way (and one that works in a pinch) is to keep spare crossovers (the kind with 2 inputs)...then wire IN PARALLEL the two cabs into the crossover..plug into the 4 ohm..
