When people talk about the Greenback having weak low end...do they mean there is not a lot of low end response from the speaker or do they mean the low end breaks up too soon?

From my experience they just have less low eend response than ssome other speakers. I guess iot ddepends on the amp too.
Play a Route 66 through a Z Best or Marshall 4x12 with GB's and you'll have no lack of low end

Ok...cool. Im about ready to pull the trigger on a Z28 combo and it has a greenback in it. I hear the Z28 has a good tight low end so its probably a good fit.

How much bass does a guy need? Too much and the bass player complains or turns up louder which is usually not a good thing. I have a couple of greenbacks in a Marshall Bluesbreaker combo. I bought it in 1989 and it always seems to have enough lows for me.

Actually the Doc has made quite a few Z28 combos with Greenbacks...and he certainly has an ear for good tone. I played one at Richmond Music and it smoked! Like Billy said you really don't need that much bass in a band setting anyway. Personally I like a little more rumble than a green gives up, but that's just me. But if you're cool with it everbody wins!
