Hey, I am trying to get more sustain out of my maz 18 w/2 g12h30's. I am going to swap one out for a greenback, a v30 or a red fang. Does anyone know which would give me increased sustain. The 2 g12h 30's are great but they don't offer much sustain for single note lead lines. I use stratocasters with chubtone (great pup's) pickups. Any input would be sincerely appreciated. db

not trying to be a d-i-c-k, but i don't really know how you would get more sustain from a speaker. the only real way to increase sustain is by either playing harder, stronger with your fingers or by overdriving the power section of your amp, i.e. lots of volume.
alternatively, try turning the master down and the volume up (all the way if necessary). you might get some usable preamp gain this way. also, the celestion speakers you described have a pretty early breakup as far as guitars speakers are concerned. maybe not as quick as a Greenback but still, they're in that ballbark. i'd say somewhere between that and V30 is where the G12H anniversary is at. it's hard to really go down from there unless your talking about an alnico mag 15 watt speaker which would probably lose some ballz playing live.
have you tried an overdrive pedal? great for pushing the amps front end to get some singing lead tone.
or an Airbrake... my new favorite toy

Actually, I think mixing another speaker into the cab with the H30 WOULD make the cab sing more... Wider frequency response, etc. I find I really like the way a Vintage 30 contributes mids to equation when mixed with an H30... I personally prefer that mix of speakers to two H30s... Vintage 30's seem to "sing" more than any other speaker in my experiences with my Ghia.
You might also get great results with the Greenback and H30 pairing too, but I'm stuck with my Vintage 30 as the Ghia just loves having that speaker in the mix.
