I have a Ray 1x12 combo w/Gold and was wondering if anyone has tried a G12-65 as an ext cab?

It's bummer that nobody has really posted feedback on this. I have a G12-65 in a 1x12 conv. cab. I've run my Stingray through it, but have not REALLY run my ray through it. I've hooked it up in my office to make noise to work out some tunes or whatever. I don't have any experience running it through a G12-65 in a band/stage setting. I will say it didn't sound bad at all at room volume. I didn't every say to myself, man this combination doesn't work. Maybe I'll drag those two pieces to a gig and see how it flies. If I do, I'll post my experience.

New Stangray owner here but I did try it with a 2x12 G12-65. I have a Little Walter Tube amp cab that came with these speakers and I didn't like it with the Ray..Little grainy sounding to my ears, I think the cab is a little small also and choked the Ray's tone. I love my Ray with 2 Gold's so I won't be changing up anything speaker wise..

I use a G12-65 in an oversized 1x12 cab that's built similar to the THD design on gigs with a moderately loud band. I really enjoy the rock n roll edge it gives the Ray and as a bonus it's 97db rating helps to control the volume. The bottom end is strong and for me singing lead lines are smooth and rich without too much bite. I do use an airbrake and pedals for OD/Dist. I also like a Weber alnico blue dog 50W speaker for country/southern rock/blues styles. For me the G12-65 gives the Ray more of a rock voice.
