Recently purchased a used Maz18Jr. w verb head and a cheap 2x10 cab with 2 Jensen P10R's. It was only $200 for the cab so I jumped on it.
I am happy with the sound but have not played through any other speakers or cabs to compare. I know Jensen's are usually more of a Fender amp type so am I comprimising part of my tone, should I look at a speaker swap or a different cab all together? Playing mostly blues, blues rock, classic rock.
Thanks

I've got old Jensen P10Rs in a couple of '57 Bassmans, a '59 Super and a '50 v-front Super (all Fender amps, of course). Most have been reconed but one of the Bassmans came with '59 speakers. I assume some old cowboy blew the originals and changed them in '59 (that amp was $125 in an antique mall in Texas!). The other speakers have all been reconed. Whether original or reconed those Jensens always sound good! I've heard them in some new Fenders and they sound good too. But, I've always had the impression that they don't give as much solid midrange as a heavier modern speaker might. I have also heard the Dr Z 2-10 cab. It sounds killer, very strong sounding. If I was you I'd do what it takes to get one to match your head. In the long run you'll be glad you did.

I have always been tempted to try Jensen type speakers in my Z's. My Z28 sounded great through 2 AlNiCO Webers 12's.
I say that if it sounds great don't worrry.
