I'm referring to the open back of course. I haven't had a chance to play the ray with anything but alnico blues but was curious if anyone was having any luck with an alternative speaker configuration.

Golds and Greenbacks seem pretty popular with the Ray.

Greenbacks still provide a nice clean?

I've heard that a blue mixed with a h30 is a good combo. Anyone have experience?

Im a huge fan of ceramic speakers with the ray. I have two combos, and where I originally had a gold in the 1x12, and the original blues in the 2x12, I swapped em all out for ceramics. I couldn't be happier. my current set list covers current and classic country. So much of the current country covers are basically rock tunes and the ceramics just nail it. the blues can go there as well. I mixed a blue with the ceramics, and yet still was too much high n bright for my taste. But , lets face it, how many British rock bands claimed their name with a pair of blues..... buy or borrow and experiment w your rig. In the end, it's all in "your" hands n ears.
