Ok I am looking hard to get a Z-best right now. I've tracked down a few. A guy has one here in town with two Vintage 30s. Looks like the standard comes with one V30 and one G12H30.
Could somebody please explain to me the difference in what I would hear - relatively?
Also, is it costly to have speakers replaced?
Thanks,
Ryan

Hi Ryman, I purchased the Z-best w/ the v30 and g12h30 and it sounded good. I however am not a big fan of the v30. I just feel it's a little to modern sounding and the lows were just a little much for me. I swapped out the v30 w/ a greenback and I think it sounds perfect now. It's really easy to change the speakers - just get a decent drill w/ phillips bit and a socket wrench to fit the speaker jack nut and your set. The speaker wires are not soldered on, they just atttach w/ a clip which makes it much easier (no soldering required). Just make sure you take note of how they are wired and that you get a speaker the has the same "ohmage" (8 or 16). You can get most speakers for around $100 bucks. Maybe try the cab with the v30's at first and see what you think. It's definitely going to be a loud cabinet since v30's are 60 watts each. If you want to tame it a bit put in a 25 watt greenback or the 30 watt g12h30. To my ears the g12h30 is a mix between the v/30 and GB. The GB has a really warm tone but is not "woofy" like a v30 can get. Really though, there's several otions out there like Weber, Eminence, Jensen etc.. depending on your playing style. All you other folks chime in here....
