Hello brethren, I read somewhere that Mark Knopfler has been using the Air Break with his live rig. Any Knopfler fans on the forum...?

I'm a big fan, I recognize the Komets and what looks like an airbrake. I saw him a couple of years ago on the "Shangri La" tour. Absolutely beautiful tone Thanks for the link.

He's very cool, I love the fact he's reinvented himself. I saw him on the Shangri La tour as well, at Rod Laver Arena here in Melbourne, I got a closer look at his gear and got to speak to his guitar tech who claimed he had over fifty Komets, how accurate that was I'm not sure, he did have about a hundred plus guitars on hand even though he only used a handful.
It was at that show I noticed he was only using a EB Volume pedal with I think some boost that I haven't found out what it was. His guitar guy does all the changes.

I am a huge fan of Mr. Knopfler, and have been since Junior High when that Dire Straits album came out on CD and changed my idea of what a sonic adventure should sound like. Thanks for the info and pics

Sexy looking gear those Komets, Im sure Mr Knopfler sounds killer with this gear, but then again he would sound good with anything.

As far as I know his boost of choice is the AnalogMan Juicer, sort of a compressor but not.

I know a guy who had a Komet Constellation 30...and sold it when he got a Mazerati GT (which he still has).

Another MK fan, saw him 3 times in the last 2 years here in Italy and was absolutely amazing. Few notes, directly in your chest...

I noticed that Mark Knopfler has also been using Reinhardt amps recently. They are pretty great amps too.

Different tools for different jobs it would seem to me. Even if only slightly- plus Reinhardt offers power scaling.
And you can't own to many amps- I mean at some point I will be considered a collector. But I don't see it that way b/c I use mine at shows and in recording studios and the amps do not sit in an attic collecting dust.

Keith What does the Reinhardt Sultan offer that you don't already get from your other el84 heads? Well, for me I can't claim any amp to be a tool for a job....afterall, I really am just a hobby player in my basement But, the Reinhardt should be a lot nastier than my other 18 watt heads, similar to a Maz GT or Monza, I suspect (it is made in the Trianwreck vein, after all). However, it also has a mode where it switched to a pair of 6v6s in half power...that's neat. But as well, buying amps is a hobby for me, so a little redundancy is not a bad thing ;D I don't buy them a put them away, or anything like that, though ;D I try to play them as much as I can..unfortuneately, these days the time is limited Keith
