I'm thinking about picking up a second Avatar 1x12 for my M12 just for some variety. I have a Blue in my cab right now and really like it for the mini stang-ray vibe, but i want something a bit more neutral. I don't like G12Ms for a 1x12...too mushy for me. The G12-65 is historically my favorite speaker of all time and I'm wondering if anyone has tried it with the M12. I feel like if coud be great - they are smooth, warm and quite neutral. The M12 could benefit from a nice mid boost and a darker speaker I think.
Anyone tried it before I take the plunge? I have 2 old G12-65s that have been ridden so hard the voice coils are burnt out on both, otherwise I would just throw one in my current cab to see.

Welcome to the Forum... I don't have the Celestion G12-65, but I do have a Reinhardt 2x12 vertical cab w/WGS ET-65s. It sounds fantastic with the M12.

Thanks,
I used to have a couple ET-65s lying around and wish I still did to test them out. I have long been partial to the celestion reissue's over other brands 65 style speakers, but it might be worth grabbing another ET65 from WGS since they are half the cost of a 65 reissue (and dont require me to break out the soldering iron).

I very highly recommend the WGS Blackhawk HP for what you seek over the G12-65 by quite a margin. I ran them both head to head, as well as a half dozen other speakers, including the magnificent Scumback G12-65 equivalent, and preferred the BH-HP over them all, even after running the comparisons day after day in different rooms and with different cabs. With the M12, the BH-HP was the smoothest, fullest, warmest, but still most "neutral" sounding speaker of the bunch. It just complements the amp perfectly IMO. It also sounded great with every pickup and pedal combination as well while many of the other speakers did not.
