Hi, got my new-to-me Maz8. Unfortunately the reverb is not working, so need a bit of help.
When it arrived the cables not attached. So I attached them, no change.
Thought maybe the tube was the culprit, changed to a good 12at7. Nope, not that.
Cleaned the pins, both at chassis and pan. No again.
I opened the reverb tank, but frankly don't know what to look for.
FYI, when amp is on and I bump the reverb bag, you can hear the sproingy sound.
Thanks!

Look for a broken solder joint inside the reverb tank where the connectors come in. Might be the source of the problem.

The cables are polorized. Red marked jack is Reverb IN, Black marked jack is Reverb OUT. If switched no send to tank, but mechanical thunder from bumped tank can still be heard. Try swapping the cables at the chassis.

And the cables are tied such that it seemed likely which one went where at the tank. Switching unfortunately not helping. I'll open up the bag again tonight to see if I can tell anything is amiss. FYI, Todd (prior owner) had said he thought his was weak on reverb when he got it and you created a special one with foam backing.

Update: After a lot of futzing around, pulling the tank, replacing tube, making sure the wires inside the tank intact, wiring proper polarity, etc, I put everything back together.
It works, but is quite weak. Not a lot of difference from all-off to all-on. Now, I don't like much reverb anyway, certainly not what I get from my Princeton (I rarely go above a 3).
Is that as much as I can expect for this little tank? Or should I consider a replacement?
Just to say, I love this amp so far! I bought a new foot switch for the EQ bypass, and wow, don't know I need an OD pedal anymore! The pentode - triode switch gives me another set of tones too. It fits my Altas amp stand perfectly, and it easy to move around (my only real beef with my ex-Maz18). The wattage fits my home-playing much better too.
Love those blonds! ;D

TJ, Todds MAZ 8 was an early one, we have made some changes since. If it bugs you send the amp back and we'll get ya more verb. E-mail repairs@drzamps.com for a RA#.

DR.Z Thanks for checking back in, I really appreciate it! I'm gonna live with it a bit as is, see if I need anything more than what it gives. Coming from owning a couple vintage Fenders, I have a different perspective. My former Maz18 reverb had sufficient for what I want.
