I have been running my Jr with the boost bridged so its on all the time, no particular reason except it does sound a little different. It has been blowing the .5amp fuse after about 3 hrs use and chassis seems to get hot. Tried new tubes and rec, it still blows occasionally. Gone back to running it with out the boost and seems ok, no fuse blown so far and doesnt seem to get as hot. Anybody else running permanent boost and had problems with fuse or heat. Just curious.

I made a shorted plug for my Jr, to plug into the footswitch jack. This essentially is like having the footswitch on at all times. I have been running it this way (permanent boost) for at least 5 or 6 months now, with no noticeable issues or problems. I know for a fact I haven't blown and fuses, and the heat seems to be as normal is always has been even without the boost engaged. The 1/2 amp fuse is the DC voltage fuse. When it blows, that's usually a sign of a bad rectifier, although it could be some other things as well. For reference, take a look at this Rx manual and scroll down to the section on Changing Rectifier Tube: www.drzamps.com/Documents/Manuals/RXES-JS.pdf

I was using the same type plug, The amp did seem to be hotter with the shorted plug in place. I changed the rec tube and the .5amp still blew. Thanks for the link to the Rx manual, I will have a look.
