Hey, just wondering if the maz 8 can do jazz tunes?
I am sure the mac can do jazz better than I can ;D but I was also thinking Z28 as well.
I just don't need that many watts to play w/ a quiet mom and pop band.....
Thanks, Gray

I think that you are on the right track with the Z28 or the Route 66 for jazz.

I would say the Z28 or 66 would be warmer sounding amps and may work better but I don't think it would all bad with the Maz 8 either. Running in triode mode may work real well, speaker choice would play a roll in this as well my 2 cents, Todd

Todd is right about speaker choice. A hemp cone speaker would put you in jazz territory. The Emi Red Fang might also be a possibility - it always seemed to be a darker speaker to me.

Eddie has posted some thoughts and clips on using the MAZ 18 for jazz. The 8 might be a little light on clean headroom, but if you're keeping it quiet....
One idea is to engage the EQ bypass to allow maximum gain in the front end, use the lo input jack and then adjust volume, master and cut (your only tone control on the amp with the EQ bypassed) to get the sound you want.
Not saying this will work for you, so definitely try before you buy.
