What tonal differences are there when using a "balanced" 12AX7 or a 5751 in the PI socket? I'm aware of the different gain factors thus yielding either a brighter/gainier tone vs. smoother/more rounded tone. Anything else?
My Ghia came stock with a 5751 as the PI, and I'm debating on switching to a balanced 12AX7 for the PI. I would like to get a little more "chime" out of my Ghia.

The 5751 is smoother and has lower gain. The Carmen Ghia has more than enough gain with the 5751 and I personally find a 12AX7 way too gainy and you loose the cool clean tones below 9:00.
