What amp are you using it with? Try locating the Verb away from the amp just to see what's up. Sometimes they pick up RFI if too close to another amp or something not properly shielded. Could be a tube problem. Try switching tubes one at a time. Also use a ground lift on either the Verb or the amp not with both. Also make sure you have a good cable.

^what he said. Make sure you are using good shielded cable(s), as short as possible. Also check the chassis screws and make sure they are snug.

Just got my z-verb today and when stacked it had a loud hum as well. Once I moved it off the head it was whisper quiet. I appreciated reading this string as it puts my mind at ease! Thanks for he info. ;D

Good thread guys but how is Brad getting away with stacking his Z Verb on top of his Wreck with no hum Without hearing it in person, I would assume other precautions (shielding) are being taken.

I love this forum. I was experiencing a similar hum with my new (used) Z-Verb and swapping tubes, etc. it was stacked on my KT-45. I'll move it off the amp and hopefully I won't have any hum either.
Thanks

The over sized transformer on my KT-45 was making my Z-Verb hum, when I put it on top of my Z-28 no hum (Yay!) I really like the KT-45 with the Z-Verb, the Z-28/Z-Verb not so much (too muddy). I can really get some nice clean surf tones with the KT-45.

I assume that is a used Z Verb. It should have a Grey shielded cable on the Footswitch, not the twisted pair black cable.

Z Thanks Doc ! My Quantum Z-Verb is the only one of my Z's that I bought used (it's the only way I could assured of a maple faceplate that remotely matched my Z-Wreck set since my dealer would never stock one) and I have a similar problem (the seller didn't include a foot switch). I never got around to trouble shooting it, though, since the unit works great without the foot switch and I never turn it on/off anyway I think I will try a foot switch with a shielded cable now that you mention it On a side note, though, the used Z-Verb turned out to be a nice match for the set

^^^^ Just a follow up.... The previous two cables I had tried (including the one that came with my Rx Jr) buzzed....so i guess they were similar twisted pair cables, I just tried the footswitch that came with my Peavy Penta (grey cable) and it worked perfectly I subbed my Rx Jr cable in again and the buzz came back. Looks like my little hiccup is solved. Thanks for the post Doc......
