Currently got the Maz 18nr
Loads of head room with the amp playing through a Z best.
Would getting the Maz 8 Head get me into singing maz overdrive tone without needing a brake lite? Clean up with the guitar volume to get an ok sound?
Pr should I be looking at another DR Z? CG?
Also does the eq bypass on the Maz 8 still boost the volume but quite a bit? It makes it unusable with the Maz 18 as a solo boost

You won't have near the headroom though. For me, I found the Maz Jr with a brakelite is a more versitile option. I'm sure you'll get plenty of other opinions. Good luck~

I sold my Maz Jr to get a Maz 8. The tone bypass works like the Maz Jr bypass including volume boost depending on how you have the tone controls set, the more you have the tone contols open the less difference you will see in overall volume. I do still use a brake lite with my Maz 8, hard to believe but true, I like to run my master volume and preamp volume at noon and that is a little too loud for my set up without the brake lite. It does have a very OD feel to it when it starts to break up, I really like it. It will also clean up well with the tone control on the guitar. Just to add to the fun, the pentode, triode switch is very cool and will give you a lot of different tones too! The Maz Jr does do that!
