<insert Tom Petty lyric here> I'm climbing aboard the Z-Train! This past weekend I finally got to try a Maz 8 combo and it took less than an hour for me to know my search had ended. I've got a head and a 1x12 cab with a G12H on order from my local shop. They told me 3-4 weeks. Time hasn't passed this slowly since I was a kid sending cereal box tops off to Battle Creek, Michigan for some piece of plastic crap and rushing home from school every day for weeks to anxiously ask my mom "Did it come? Did it come?" At least this time the end result will be of the highest quality. There is one thing I noticed during my test run. It seemed like when I turned up the Gain to get more grit the reverb seemed to lessen even though I didn't touch that knob. I found myself having to crank the reverb knob to maintain the same level of 'verb. The guy at the shop said he had noticed the same thing. It certainly didn't stop me from ordering the amp, but I am curious about this. Has anyone else noticed this? Is it a Maz 8 feature or a problem with that particular unit? If it's a feature, does anyone know how that works? Anyway, now I have to find some way to distract myself for a month. I guess I can learn about breaking in speakers, although that G12 already sounded great to my ears so I can't wait to hear what happens after it gets played for a while. hoby

Congrats on the new Maz 8 Hoby!
I've had a Maz jr for around a year now and just got in my Maz 8 going on a couple of weeks. Because the 18 is non-reverb, I have a pedal on my board that I was using.
The other night, a buddy came over and was trying the 8 out. I found that an opportune time to fiddle with the knobs, right across the board. One thing I did notice, when it was in the Hi input and cranked out, the reverb did seem back there a bit, as opposed to everything pulled back, in a cleaner manner.
I'm not sure the reason for it.

Contrats on the Maz 8!! I do love mine very much and I am sure you'll love yours too! I have not noticed a reduction in the reverb but I don't normally set it very wet. When the gain is up I am usually grinning too much to notice much else Todd

Thanks for the feedback, guys. Todd, I know what you mean about the smiling. My face hurt by the end of my hour with the 8.
So. Much. Fun.

I'd bet the reverb backoff was a feature. The more gain you have, usually the reverb starts to sound kinda bad to some folks. I wonder if the dry signal just overpowers the wet signal in the circuit path due to the increased gain and it is left this way on purpose to avoid an overly wet drive tone? Just guessing...

Well, whatever the reason, I won't get to experiment further with it until the end of the month. Found out yesterday that there was some mis-communication between Z-Headquarters and my local shop. It was somebody else's Maz 8 that was shipped this week. Good thing I know it's gonna be worth every second of the wait.

Yes it does! Got one... After about 8 weeks wait. But it's so good I would order another Dr Z anytime, despite any late delivery! My Rat Valve modified Marshall Class 5 I really love for about 2 years feels a little bit lifeless these days...
Good wait!
