The Z "factory" is actually a fairly small business with limited resources. A tour of the factory might take all of 15 minutes . Doc has opened the factory during Zfest. He really can't afford to give walk in tours because it would take away from production. As for discontinuation of the Galaxie, as I mentioned Doc's resources are very limited. Every builder works on a couple of amps. In order to build new models he has to eliminate old models that may not be selling as well as when they first introduced. Tough decisions for Mike since they are all his "children".

Do you use your Galaxie in the studio, home, small concerts or big concerts?

Do you use your Galaxie in the studio, home, small concerts or big concerts? In the past I have used mine at home .... and at a few small house-parties; with a coupla ventures into some small venues ..... versatile amp for sure - accomodates various speaker configurations, guitars and effects. Next up is an office-function for upcoming Canada Day celebrations ... prolly with a Stratocaster thru 210 cabinet cheers always, Joel

Now I have tested my Dr. Z Galaxie with different guitar cables. I must admit I am surprised at the difference in sound if I use cables from Vovox, PRS / Van Damme, Pete Cornish and Adam Hall. I will describe what it is that makes me like best Vovox. It is as if the sound is clearer and more direct. The sound becomes more separated, more pronounced and more spacious. I have therefore also set Vovox speaker cables to my Dr Z Air Brake. I have certainly come to the conclusion that price, quality and sound experience is very well together.

My Galaxie sounds really good clean sounds. But it also sounds really good when it breaks. How high should you turn up on your amp so it really breaks in the sound and the sound becomes more overdrive than clean?

Galaxie - non master volume vs master volume
To be sure I understand the difference.
Can you tell me why I should not get the master volume?
What is the best thing about not having the master volume?

I have had the Galaxie both with and without the MV mod. It comes down to how you will use the amp. When Doc adds the master volume, he basically fixes the presence control at 12. The MV mod controls only channel 2. If you like to work your presence control a lot then the master might not be for you. What the MV mod does good is to allow you to set both channels to the same decibel level. Without the MV mod, Channel 2 was way louder than channel one and switching between the two seamlessly was not possible because channel 2 is so much louder.
Hope this helps!

The 23 indicates it is a Galaxie. The 100 indicates it was the 100th Galaxie made.

Channel 1 is Fender Tweed Super? Channel 2 is? Channel is a hot-rod waiting for you to push the gas and feel the power .... it's a fire-breathin' dragon waiting to be unleashed .... I've always equated Channel 2 with many strong rock'n'roll guitar sounds from the 1970s .... just my .02, ymmv, imho ....... cheers always, eh Joel
