HI all !!! I have just purchased an RMC4 picture wah and I'm wondering which is the "best" place to use it on my pedalboard. I play a custom shop stratocaster through an EZG50 head (& 2x12 open-back cab). I have tried to use the RMC wah before my compressor, overdrive and EQ pedals and have noticed that the overall volume decreases when the wah pedal is engaged... I have also tried to remedy this problem by placing the wah at the end of the signal chain, after my other pedals...just before the amp...This time there was no change in volume....I can say that there was almost an increase in volume,...especially when the wah pedal was pressed down (higher frequencies)... Could someone advise me how to get the best sound from a wah pedal when used in conjunction with other pedals...what's the best placement on the board...? I have read that it sounds "more vintage" (Hendrix style) at the very beginning of the effects' chain (as Robert Keeley suggests)...or maybe just after the compressor (as Mr Wampler also suggests)... ??!!!! How do you guys use your wah's Where do you place them on your boards??? Thanks, in advance, for your kind imput. Peace.

Sounds like you might just need a front end buffer maybe? I use my wah after a buffer and before my comp and OD and have no problem hearing the wah. I use a Keeley Mello Wah (modded Crybaby) if it matters.

Thank you Matt for your kind advice...it sounds like a sensible idea! I'll try that,...when I have some spare cash to purchase a decent buffer...! Can you suggest a good buffer for that purpose???
Thanks again,
peace.

Thanks again, peace. My front end buffer is an expensive tube kind but I have a back end buffer made by T1M Pedals that works really well. If you need a bare bones (and very small) buffer that's very transparent but adds just a touch of sparkle then I'd give his mini-buffer a go. Not an expensive experiment either at only $40. this1smyne.com/shop/mb-mini-buffer/
