so it's my first dr z. probably wont be my last, but i have the mini z incoming. my #1 amp is a komet 60, but playing that in the house is difficult to say the least. so i wanted something cheap, and lower volume so i picked up a mini z head. for now ill be running it through the speaker of my blues jr (which was built into a marshall 18 watt lite iib). but eventually i may get a single or dual 10" z cab for it. i also have a bad cat 2x12 with blues so if i want some mroe volume, i can always play through that.

should look great sitting on top of one of these www.kometamps.com/jpegs/blacktop.jpgi just wish i could buy unloaded Dr Z 2x12 cabs. i already have a pair of nicely broken in blues i'd like to use. I suppose i could order one with the standard v30/g12h30 combo and use those speakers elsewhere.

Man that comet looks great. You may be able to pick up a used 212 and sell the speakers or try avatar cabs. The tolex should match and you can order them with a combo of black and red. Whereas if you get a z best 212 you may find you like his stock speaker set up. I guess it's made for the cab.

I love the open back with blues. I just like matching cabs. It's hard to justify spending money for a visual only update. Would be cheaper to just recover my bad cat cab.
I could actually be ok with a blues loaded 2x12 and a greenback loaded 4x12 and no other cabs

thanks. i've been a Z fan for a while. pretty much since i played one at ultrasound (which I'm pretty sure was an RX ES) that blew me away. I've just never had one until now.

seems interesting. played it through my buddies bogner 4x12 cab (which i think has v30s)
it sounded great. and quieter than the blues jr open back cab i was using. much easier to use for home/apartment volume. especially on attenuator settings 3 and 4. we concluded that on 4 on the attenuator, you probably wouldnt piss off a neighbor in an apartment.
