Is the Galaxie Flexible STOCK? Or does the jump to CH2 just too much for trying to find A Balance when Gigging? I know the mod has got to be KILLER! You can really get the Tubes Warmed up I'm sure. There's nothing quite like the 6L6's when they get runnung full bore. Has anyone ever tried the KT66's with the Galaxie, I have a Funny feeling I may get a chance to find out ;D

So what is the big fuss? Give me the low down TROCK>? Please?? I have read where people just use the 1st Channel and push that. If it's A Ch Switcher I'd like to use it especially for a lil uhmfff and grit on the Second Channel. I just love that Neil Young Rockin in the Free World, The Eagles Heartache Tonight, etc... Fendery Tones. Some of the best Rock-n-Roll songs in history were recorded with those old Tweed, Champ, Brown Style Fender amps. Will the Galaxie Deliver? I play alot of Blues and Classic Rock , and Country, My Old Super Is getting to be Too Valuable to be Packing it out and leaving in an old bar or Nightclub, ;D

I usta haul an old BF modded, SF Twin w/JBLs around for those tones. With road case, close to 100 lbs, but man, that thing has some sweet tone.
Since I got my Galaxie(#3)...it has hardly been turned on, and has NEVER left the crib. Channel 2 is certainly giggable, but....U HAVE to "learn" how to set the thing if it doesn't have the MV mod.
Simply setting both vol knobs the same, and expecting to stomp the switch for leads 'aint gonna get it. What I ended up doing, was setting channel 1 a little hotter than I wanted, and riolling off the guitar vol just a bit. Then, set channel 2 w/the guitar wide open for that awesome OD, but at nearly the same vol as channel 1.

You really can't go wrong with or without. Like T-Rock has said, you have to play with it. My feeling is that we've all been gloriously spoiled! I think the answer to the question has to do with what level of pure amp distortion you want to play with, along with what context (SPL) you are using it in. For me, I am happy to use it in the original non-master form because I love riding the edge of distortion and like a clean sing out of channel 2. Now that I'm happy I don't want to change all over again. I use a pedal only on channel 1 for occasional sass. Drummers and SVT's change the equation on everything. If you want more options at different volumes get the mod done. It's not like your more cool by not doing it. I even plug an arch top into this amp and really enjoy the variance I get from all the controls.

I would consider spending some time without the Mod. As a house or rehearsal amp that may seem difficult. But when I use it on the stage, I too (like Tony) set Vol 1 at about 1:30 to 2 and use the volume control on the guitar. Then for blues I tend to set Vol 2 at about 9:30 or so....sounds great in my opinion. By using the vol control on the guitar and opening up Ch 1 a bit more then I end up with two different lead sounds. Had mine sitting around but in pairing it recently with my T-Lentz it is a great fit for that guitar!

Good advice from all. I used and loved both channels as Tony stated, you'll have to used to setting them but once you do it's a very cool set up. Ch1 for cleaner tones then give a boost or OD and it's great. Strap your seat belt on and hit Ch2 for a little volume boost and rock'in tones. Add boost and OD for endless sustain and smoooooth OD tones. I've never played the master volume set up but if Tony say's it's great.... it's GREAT.
