I have finally adjusted to the 9.5" radius and find I like it fine except I don't feel I can get the action as low asI can on a lrger radius neck. I let a couple of other guys check it out last weekend and they agree with me, the neck profile feels great! The light weight of the guitar is very nice. Perhaps because of the light ash the guitar doesn't have as much upper mids as my TA with solid alder and a maple top. I think the tone descriptions on the TA site for the different woods is pretty accurate.
This guitar is more demanding to play than the TA. It seems to have a wider dynamic range that requires me to control my volume dynamics more than with the TA. The taper on the pots is tricky. The first little bit makes a LOT of difference. This would be good with a distorted amp because it would help clean it up fast but with a clean amp it can be tricky to get the right amount of attenuation for rhythm at first touch of the pot. I used to hit the switch and sometimes the volume pot accidently on the TA but not on this guitar. For recording the single coils are a hassle but live I don't even notice the hum.
This still impresses me as being a great guitar but most of them that are over $2,500 and made by a small luthier seem to be great. I still think Scott is a master luthier and I find no fault anywhere with this instrument. He's getting into set necks now so I'm thinking about one of those. I think I'm a humbucking kind of guy at heart but if I decide on one of those there are a lot of things that I'd want and that he may not do, so we'll see.
