I have already ranted in a PM so I promise not to do that ;D However I dont understand why Amps are taken out of production? Because they dont sell millions?? Seems like a great amp with modern features also many seem to really dig the amp? Can the amp be an order chassis only??? While There still is one 6 L 6 amp offered there isnt for channel switching. The only thing I.can say is..... Maybe I should be in Marketing . And maybe there will be a glorious replacement for the Gal. Feedback is much appreciated to shed more light on this fine tone maker

Wow, I'm glad I still have mine #30 with out the mod. I've used it for almost every gig I've had in the past 5 years. ;D

Supply and demand baby! Jamie I know that's now what you wanted to see in a response. I'm shocked that more folks don't appreciate the Galaxie to create more of a demand. It's certainly not an el84 voxy tone but it's one for the best 6l6 tones I've owned. It's a modern marvel in my opinion. It put my Ray to #2 for about a year but as time passed I missed the Ray and sold the Gal to purchase my current Ray which is a special amp that I had to have and needed to raise cash. I will pick up another Galaxie some day master or not. I like that big bottle tweed sound. Add in a very cool high gain channel at the click of a foot switch, Brilliant! I feel your frustration as I know you were heading down the Galaxie path.

Yes I understand the whole Business thing and I just think that instead of axing the Chassis why not make it on an order Basis? They could charge a Order fee and give the dealer a %? When you look at it on a money stance I totally understand why the Doc has made these decisions, The RXeS and RxJr have been axed too. I have made up my mind that the Galaxie will be my next Z I guess It will be a Used one now ;D No Bigge. I have looked for an Old Tweed for a while and I think the Galaxie will be much more Road worthy and sound Just as good, I have also been lusting for a Vibrolux, I had a Chance to get one when I got my Super Reverb But I passed I'm kicking myself now. Something about that BIG FENDER! Sound . I think we are in for some real treats for the next year with teh Z Lineup, I'm crossing my Fingers. The Galaxie is one Fine AMP!

I think the Gal and the Remedy use the same chassis. Also dealers can now drop the price on a new Galaxie if you can find one. Z has a pretty strict no discount policy, same price where ever you purchase.
Good luck, great amp rp

I don't think it really a matter of "no love," it's more Doc needing to pick where/what he's going to invest the time and money. He responded on one of these posts (in the lounge?) where he described his decision making process. While it hurt me to see some of my favorite Z amps being discontinued, I can't argue w/ his logic. One of the things he mentioned that struck home w/ me was about his builders being efficient w/ current builds. I think that's why we won't see small runs or special orders of the discontinued models (short of a LE run like they did w/ the SRZ LE). You get away from a build, or you don't have the orders to do much of a run, and it's more time consuming for a guy to get back into doing that build. Two of my top-three-all-time-favorite amps (Mazerati GT & Galaxie) are discontinued. I wouldn't be surprised if my other favorite (SRZ) ends up on the chopping block. It's been discontinued already before. I don't believe I'll ever part w/ those three. I love my KT and Delta, too, but not as much as the other three. And as randalp3K stated, now you can find a new one (Galaxie) at a discounted price. I don't think the used ones are going to skyrocket price-wise for a little while either. I really think you'd dig the Galaxie, Jamie. From one SRZ Brother to another, the Galaxie has some SERIOUS FENDER TWEED MOJO (not to mention the over-the-top channel 2... )!

the Galaxie will be a definite possibility very soon.. i have search long and hard for the originals but I just dont think I want the Hassle of the Originals due to them being so old . I think there are lots of.good new products coming that we just dont know about. There are so many people who are still not familiar with DRZ amps. I always tell people if you have a dream sound in your head the Doc has a model that will cover it. I hope he replaces the. Galaxie with another 6L6 type amp. The Galaxie and EZG are alot cheaper than Dumbles and Old Fenders for sure . I support the Doc no matter what and I have foumd myself true to the Sound of his amps . I love the tones from the videos posted

The few times I played one, I thought it was an odd mix of tones where one or the other channel would appeal to a particular player, but not both (players of Drew's talent being an exception). Old school 6L6 (kinda tweed) channel which I loved to an over the top high gain sound that was not in balance with the volume or tonality of the non-gain channel and didn't appeal to me at all. Don't have any idea if ths is a common perception or even if it is one of the underlying reasons for the model being discontinued. My 2 cents.

Hey ridge back. I think they have remedied that issue bh using the master vol in the presence spot on newer models. I really love the old tweed tones of the 50's and early 60's. To me thats what the galaxies all about. Someone correct me if im wrong. Its hard to beat the old fender tone for alot of styles and tones

Jamie,
I had heard that they fixed the balance on the OD channel but didn't know the details. My two main amps for years were a Victoria bassman and double deluxe. Eventually they wound up being too much amp for me not playing out anymore and I sold them but I still miss those tweed amps. The Z-28 through US voiced speakers and a loose pine cab is as close as I get now.

Thats the problem with Zamps they are so Darn good you cant help to try one of each!!! I have to say each one has it purpose. The 28 has an EF86 front? Is it more Fenderish?? The Galaxie will Get me where I'm at with my Craving Fender Tone I'm most Sure. How bout the 28? Do I need to make another Thread? ?? Joel! You did it again

I'm sad to see the Galaxie taken out of production. I've played about 40 gigs with it now and don't think I'd use any other amp unless playing in a really small venue. The Galaxie has such a high quality sound.
I agree that there is a big jump between Ch1 and Ch2. I was a little frustrated with the tonal change and tended to rely on Ch1 and pedals to get the sound that I wanted (I try to get that Robben Ford / Talk To Your Daughter Sound). Ch1 with no pedals didn't have enough distortion unless the volume was up high - and the attenuator was on. But Ch2 was too hot and bright.
My Maxon Tubescreamer changed the tone too much - took out a lot of the warmth. My Marshall Bluesbreaker was pretty good, but still coloured the tone too much. I researched like hell and came cross a Zenduko Overdrive pedal by Tanabe. Expensive, but worth every cent.
I now have a perfect combination of pedals that sound so sweet with Ch 1, even at low volumes. It's amazing how the Zenduko complements this amp.
Zenkudo Overdrive (by Tanabe) -- RC Booster -- JHS Compressor -- ZVex Wah Probe -- MXR Carbon Copy Delay.
90% of my playing is with the Zenkudo and Galaxie only. The Wah is unreal with this set up.
I'm a happy camper.
If Dr. Z comes up with a replacement amp for the Galaxie, I'd be interested to give it a try. Meanwhile, I'm as happy as a pig in sh*t with my Gal.

As someone who has "countless" hours on this amp.....I wud strongly urge you to get one w/the master vol mod.
I resisted for almost three years. I thought I couldn't live w/out the presence knob. Got the mod done.....MUCHO easier to gig, and I have NEVER missed the presence control.
Z got it right, when he set it wherever he put it. Dude KNOWS tone.
