I use the Black nylon 1.0mm Dunlops and I too hold 'em backwards, I like to use the grip area to get a raspy sound when needed. Boxers? Briefs? Haynes? Be like Mike? naw; Commando.... Sorry, it had to be said.

Guys, I have to admit the briefs or boxers question was my wife's idea. She came by a while back and watched some of the posts! Her second comment was, " Wouldn't a discussion on boxers or briefs be ultimately more uselful and interesting to everyone?
I had to admit she had something there.
Her first comment was, " Picks?? Picks?? You mean ya'll will actually discuss guitar picks?"
I should have just said, " Yes dear, we're sort of like losers here sometimes"
At least then she wouldn't have brought up the briefs or boxers thing. My humblest apologies.

I use Ernie Ball Celluloid picks. Heavy for my electric and Fender Thins for my acoustic...guess you can see which guitar I favor more For the first couple months when I first started playing, I was using a pick (Ernie Ball) that I had caught at a show...(thanks to Brad Paisley!!) well after wearing off his name on that pick, I decided to start buying the EB's in place of the Fenders, nothing against Fenders, just that I prefer the feel of the EB's better!! So much so I've started using their strings too! So, which is for you...boxers or briefs? ;D

Wouldn't Mojo picks be technically illegal? More important to me is they'd beat the hell out of your guitar and pickups if you're a sloppy player like me. They are made from old silver quarter which technically are out of circulation. I don't belive the defacing currrency argument applies. The 2 I use are from 1898 and 1916 I can't imagine being so sloppy that a pick would beat up you pickups!!! Wow!!! You know you're supposed to use the pick to hit the strings, right?

Well, with old silver, you can't stand outside in your undies in a lightning storm. That's the drawback, along with the weight.

For a while I was using the Dunlop Gels in Purple (.72) and green (.60).
But lately I went back to an old favorite-- those Amber colored "Ultem Tortoise" Claytons and a very similar Dunlop pick. A pick like this is magical on both acoustic and electric-- especially on acoustic as they seem to add a richness to the tone in the mids.
I can't do the heavy picks as they fight back too much and eventually I drop them (can't fight the pick that long without getting too tired to hold it).
The other extreme seem to me to be out of control. No matter what pick I use, it's almost always between .6 and .88 thickness.
