So. Is this the Super-Duper Mega Rock/Country/Metal/Jazz/ Do everything Super Amp that some are looking for? I have a few Z's, and i think, that with the exception of the Mini, that i could do most anything that i do musically with any one of them, given a few different speakers/cabs. Notice i said "could". Not likely that I "will", they all have personalities that make them more useful for this or that, and a big stack of them looks so cool. When the friends come over and we get 3 of them going at once, Man Oh Man the sounds we make! That all aside, will it do everything? I mean Really do Everything? What ill it replace? What won't it replace? If i could get down to 3-4 amps, why i could educate my kids! I do not see many amps disappearing from your signature lines after the Wreck gets there.......And i have been watching.....

I sold several Z's to get my ZW and I'm pretty pleased with it. Not selling the Maz Jr nor the Remedy though - they do their own thing quite nicely.
The ZW is a great amp, better than almost any of the rest that I've played. But it doesn't do the Remedy, and the Maz does a wide variety of sounds. I'll be sticking with these three for the time being.

I have not played one, then again i bought all of my Z's without demoing them. A friend had a red Maz 18, and that is what sent me down this path i am on. Amazing how a word, a wink, a red wooden box of tubes and speakers can change the course of a man's life, but i digress.. The local dealer (Willcutt) has a pitifully small playing room where you cannot get the full effect of an amp, except perhaps a Mini, so probably will end up getting one without a test drive..It is next on my list, I will naturally try to get a good buy on a used head, i have plenty of speakers. So if anyone has one for sale or trade, "I'm your Huckleberry".

The mighty Z Wreck in my opinion, is not a Metal or Jazz amp. Not to say you could not play these styles thru it. Just shines with rock and twang tones. Also not a Swiss Army amp like a Mesa Mk V. However, it can deliver a wide array of tones and textures with just the 4 knobs and your fingers. Like Steve, my ' Wreck, Remedy & Maz Jr cover all my present needs.

MAZ JR ( Does a Decent Job with both Singles and HUMS) Swiss Army Knife of the Z Line
Remedy ( SHINES WITH HUMS )

Z Wreck (SHINES WITH SINGLE COILS) MAZ JR ( Does a Decent Job with both Singles and HUMS) Swiss Army Knife of the Z Line Remedy ( SHINES WITH HUMS ) Funny How we all have the same 3 amps:) I decided a while back to sell off everything that wasn't critically important to me. I wanted to get down to one amp. I cannot do it - these three are the bare minimum for me. There it is.

Yes, unless you want something low volume. Acht! That is why I stay out of the Maz 8 section - way too tempting...

I'm not sure this is the ultra amp for someone who wants to play higain pickups into a higain amp. For me that sort of thing is an effect to be selected at times.
The astonishing thing about the amp is what it reveals about your guitar, touch etc. It isn't about projecting some 'tude more about revealing some 'tude. It seems ideal for the low/mid output pickups I like.
With no master vol. how you hit the front of it is real important and will have to mastered on a guitar by guitar basis. I ditched all my other (tube) amps so I'll let you know

Z Wreck (SHINES WITH SINGLE COILS) MAZ JR ( Does a Decent Job with both Singles and HUMS) Swiss Army Knife of the Z Line Remedy ( SHINES WITH HUMS ) Funny How we all have the same 3 amps:) I have those 3 and an RxJr to boot ;D Even though the Z-Wreck is great with the Tele...my RxJr is not going anywhere. No Z amp I own will ever be sold...you can take that to the bank The only thing the Z-Wreck purchase may do is deter me from eventually getting a Stangray. Keith

i find its not that the amp does everything...it all depends on the guitar you put thru it...i can get the snappy country sound with a tele and the rock marshally/ british tones with my SG and Les paul....if i had to keep just one Z it would be the Z wreck for sure....its perfect for all "my " needs....cheers!

Just personally speaking I haven't used my old rigs for gigging since I got the Wreck and doubt that I will unless I need it for a backup. I've also got a Classic 30 that I'll hang on to just to have a small amp for band practice. However, I can't bring my self to sell the old gig rig yet.

Yes, unless you want something low volume. I second that..this amp is freakin loud! Needs an attenuator for me to play it live.

That is why I stay out of the Maz 8 section - way too tempting... the Maz 8 was one I could not pass up Steve but I do keep my eyes on the Zwreck, I've been thinking a Remedy might be next but I keep coming back to this section I can still hear the Zwreck from Zfest a couple of years ago at Brothers Lounge, man it sounded so awesome cranked up with a band!! okay, time to wake up from my day dream

I just sold my Z-Wreck. The buyer showed up here with his guitars, so we set it up and he played a while. DANG it sounded good. But even on four clicks of the Airbrake it was too loud for around the house, and that's the only playing I do any more. Dang it sounded good though... gave me chills for sure.

I feel for you, Steve. It had to be a tough call.
So are you thinking about a MAZ 8?

At our last gig I set up the ZW with the BrakeLite SA, and kept the SA on 2 or 3 for a while...then about 30 min into our set I switched it to the off position and never looked back. Played a Tele with Duncan Five-Twos and a LP with Burstbuckers all night. The ZW is so easy to squeeze good tones from. But I agree that it's a lot of amp for home use and a smaller amp would probably make one happier if only playing within the home.

I know that was tough... I almost did it a while back, but I figure I'll hang on to it. It sure is a glorious beast!

Or a Zwreck JR Studio 1-10, at 12-15 watts, retaining all the features and magic of the present model, of course.

I sold my Maz Jr to get my Wreck, but I'd pick up another Maz down the line, both amps are great, but the Maz is more versatile IMHO.

I know that I'm late to the party on this thread, specially for those considering selling or have already sold their Wreck on the account that its a loud amp that can't be tamed properly with the AirBrake.
I really urge anyone to find a friend who owns an Aracom prx150-pro attenuator. I am not trying to knock down the Doc's AB, but this unit is simply a wonderful attenuator that is well worth its cost, which should be a fully justified expense for a Wreck, as it is a flat out wonderful amp.
Best of luck guys Ben

well of course you could. not that you won't miss them... but you can also do a lot of other thing that you probably shouldn't.
