My Z-verb was working fine yesterday and today no reverb sound at all.
Any ideas? I was going to replace the 6V6 tube but found out its a 6V6R and all I have is 6V6S tubes.
What's the best way to trouble shoot the problem?
Replace the power tube or preamp tubes?

Well, just tried to replace the preamp tube to the far right (looking at the back) and it didn't fix the problem...so I replaced the preamp tube in the middle and it fixed it! Question about this tube....it was a "6201"....according to the tubestore this is the same as a 12AT7. ? Is this OK for this preamp tube? I have a 12AT7 in there and the surfs up

I think that's the same tube. Surf away!

Thanks Eddie! I had a Mullard 12AT7....figured it was a good tube to try.

Does anyone know if there is a difference between 6V6S and 6V6R ?

I think the 6V6R has a warmer sound while the 6V6S is a higher output tube with a more edgy sound. But I'm not an expert.

Glad you got your Z Verb working again. That 6201 is a low noise version of a 12AT7 I believe. No problems at all. Doc just gave you his best there... I'd say for a ZVerb, any glass 6v6 will be just fine. The 6v6 just drives the reverb circuit. If it isn't broke, I would leave it... It might last 20 years before needing to be replaced. ;D
