So after owning my Maz JR NR 1 x 12 combo for about 4 years. I will be selling it due to my poor back can't even handle lifting that combo.
I figure I have been hearing such great reviews on the Galaxie it was time to get a different model Z from my maz. I dig great natural distortion and I figure using the Galaxie with an airbrake will be the way to get my rock n roll crunch up to par.
Wish I could keep the maz but my wife says pick one and I figure why not try a new sound.
Looks like the Galaxie blond head over at Fat Sound is calling my name. Let me know what you all think, my first thought is the 1 x 12 convertible cab so I can have versatility.

I did it! The Blonde Galaxie head is now mine from Fat Sound. It ships out tomorrow so I guess I can play it next Thur. or Fri. I have decided to go with a 1 x 12 cab after talking with Mike at Fat Sound. He said the latest V30's are sounding great and with it in a 1 x 12 config it is well balanced and he digs the sound. Good enough for me. If I need more output I will pick up a 2 x 10 next season and run them together.
Sonic goodness coming my way. I'll post some sounds within the next couple of weeks.

IMO vin 30's sound much better as a pair instead of a single. I went with the 65 and am blown away! Time permitting I would call Mike back and go with the 65.

Definitely go with the Celestion G12-65! I have the GALAXIE 1X12 Combo with the G12-65 and this is the best sounding speaker I have heard yet in a 1X12 configuration! Their is no doubt as to why Dr.Z choose to put this speaker in the Galaxie as it really shows out with the this new "BADASS" Muscular 6L6 amp by the good DOC! It is hard to describe just how good the GALAXIE 1X12 combo sounds with this speaker in it! I think it will end up being one of the top 4 amps of the Z-LINE! ;D

Yea as GIBBMY335 says the G12-65 kicks arse I voted for the 2/10 but I had my 1/12 combo for about 5 days. I love IT. It sneaks up on ya. I also have a Z 2/10 cab I use with the combo. GALAXIE is a Rock'n'Roll amp. I dig both channels. Z amps just kill me. TONE TONE TONE!

Blackice is correct! The Galaxie is a ROCK-N-ROLL amp for sure! Everytime I plug into my 1X12 combo it amazes me how huge and fat the bottom end of this amp is and how articulate the midrange and top end is as well! Best tone I have heard from a 6L6 based amp! I had Vibro-King which is no slouch at all in the tone department and was considering the new Fender "SUPER-SONIC"! Dr. Z put it all together on the Galaxie for sure! ;D

The G12-65 just sounds fantastic! with the GALAXIE! Did you get the 1X12 combo or a head/Cabinet version? I have never heard such a dynamic punchy low-end from any 1X12 combo! It will raise the hair on your neck!

Hey guys, you sound pretty stoked about your Galaxies. I have my Galaxie head on it's way back this week. I sold it a little while ago and stumbled on to it a couple days ago on TGP. So...I ended up working a deal with the current owner to get it back. Once I get it back, it's staying. It is serial no. 3 and I cannot wait to be reunited. I;m giving you both karma points from one Gal' owner to another(s). Have fun with the amps and let us know what ya think of them.

Woo hoo! Thanks for the karma. I am getting the head-cab setup. Looks like the head arrives on this Friday and the cab is about 2 weeks out.

Played my GALAXIE out last night. YES it ROCKS. My Mex Tele,135, & Les all we're screaming. Turned down nice & sweet, turned up watch out. The Drummer I played with love it. He like all my Z amps they don't hurt his ears. Where DOC has his amps voiced don't do the ICE PICK in the ear thing. The presence knob is just right. I did get to play with Vol. on 12. God these sounds are righteous
THANKS AGAIN DOC.
My 3rd Z Amp is a blast!

I got my Galaxie head in last nite and plugged it into my speaker of my Maz Jr NR combo. Lucky for me I have my airbrake. Dang! This is one powerful amp! Definitely gritty. From 9:00 on the amp to high noon it is insane! The clean channel has a nice bit of dirt on it which just rocks. For fun I put my airbrake on bedroom settings and cranked up both volumes full on. You get the over the top exploding creamy distortion which is gonna sound great for recording. I dig my Maz Jr but the Galaxie is so Rock that I will be stoked to sell the maz to my neighbor. He is down the road so we can jam and enjoy dueling Z tones!
Next week my 1 X12 Z convertible cab should come in and I will be in hog heaven. I think for bigger gigs I am just going to pick up a 2 x 10 and I am set for just about anything.
Dr. Z, you are the man!
