Probably, 'Hank and Roll, a rock'n'roll tribute to Hank Williams' by The Riffing Cowboys... And yes, Mr. Ambel is on it too.. Tons of tone!!!

Not a 2011 release, but my favorite "new" (to me) recording was Phil Brown's Cruel Inventions. SS Svengali got the most play of any 2011 release. Thanks, BW

Last year my music buying was gathering "Best Of" from artists. My 2 favorites were Ana Popovic and Valentine Elizalde.

my favorite album of 2011 was Gungor's "Ghosts Upon The Earth." it's an absolutely brilliant mix of jazz, latin, folk, and rock and roll. In a lot of instances they're able to mix all of those seamlessly into one song.
here's an acoustic version of their song "When Death Dies" from their album Ghosts Upon The Earth:

Mutemath - Odd Soul. Can't stop listening to it. Some cool new sounding stuff. As far as newer artists are concerned, Mutemath is in the top 5 (IMO).

Probably is Tedeschi Trucks Band's "Revelator" by default, because it's the only album from 2011 I bought to date. Actual favorite? Derek Trucks Band--"Roadsongs."
