I finally traded my combo after several twists and turns for a Red SRZ65 head. I was fortunate enough to be able to play and compare a bunch of Z amps on Wednesday at a forum members house. (Delta 88,6545,Z28, EZG50, Sting Ray, Galaxie, SRZ65 and a Soldano!) I may be missing one or two. I compared them with my Combo side by side and the SRZ by the narrowist of margins beat out the EZG50. They were all great amps but it was just too hard to move away from the SRZ65 (I know,I know Jamie you were right!) I've played combos for the last 25 years so I'm getting used to a closed back cab. Man I couldn't get enough of that chunk and bottom end! It makes you play and think totally different. Needless to say I feel like I made the best decision for my situation. Unfortunately I scrapped a trade with Jimmy S for his Remedy which I feel horrible about. I had scheduled the visit to check out an EZG50 last week and until I heard it I didn't think it would work for my style, boy was I wrong! That is a beautiful sounding rig. Poor Mike had to witness a grown man twisted in indecision and guilt for a couple of hours before I left with the SRZ. I'm soooo glad I did!! So to make a short story long, I'm still a happy SRZ65 owner and happy as heck to say so!!!

Congrats on the new head....your back has to be loving it! I can understand why you stuck with the SRZ. It just plain ROCKS!

I had a great time listening to you as you explored the various Z amps there. I agree, I think you ended up with the right amp for you - though I'm sure it will be a while before you forget the sound of the EZG. Like I told you earlier, it is surprising what that amp can do!
I'm enjoying the SRZ65RC as well! I think it was a win/win for both of us!

Absolutely Mike! What a great experience playing that many awesome amps. In an ideal world, that would be how you bought every amp. You were right about how much that amp love humbuckers. Not sure if I'm going to keep the air break or not. How do you like the KT77's and Green Back combination? It has been a big change for me using the 34's and a closed back cab. Lots of nice thud and chunk. I just cleared out an area in my basement for a "studio"/music room. Did a lot of work moving and purging stuff from the basement. Your man cave was the inspiration and my wife was happy to get rid of a bunch of stuff. I'll let you know when my band "MOJO GROOVE" is playing up in Michigan. Thanks again bud!

I like the KT77s - to my ears seems like more clean headroom with them in there. Gonna take some more time this week but I know so far I really like it!
Let me know when you do play up here - be glad to come out and support you.

I'm so glad You stayed with the SRZ Chili! Its a Great amp and Covers sooo much ground. What speakers are you runniing in the Cab??? Yes! The Remedy Is amazing but it isnt the SRZ. The 34's are good but Im gonna go back to the 6CA7's when I get the Money. the JJ's wont hold up for me, I have learned that spending a few extra $'s on the NOS tubes will pay off in the long Run! Post Some Pics If you are able or heck how bout some Gain Searing Riffs in the Audio Section ;D congrats again Chili!
