Ok you guys, I have a Maz Jr NR and want to buy a reverb pedal for it. I'm planning on putting it in the fx loop of the amp. Of the pedals that are available to me, I've found the Strymon bluesky and the EHX holy grail plus most desirable!
My question is: How much do you really use the plate shimmer? Does the bluesky sound so much better that it justifies paying twice the price of the holy grail?
Thanks!

I had a Holy Grail plus and it was a very nice sounding unit...I ran it in front of the amp...sounded just fine there. I only sold it as I was more of a delay guy. I would buy another if I had to.

I actually ended up ordering the earthquaker devices ghost reverb, but if I do not like it, I will return it and buy the bluesky! I have seen the videos and I believe what you're saying;) I've seen your vids too! GREAT player! Cheers!

Hall Of Fame Reverb from TC Electronics is good & $150. It gets a lot of sound.

I just tried a Wampler Faux spring reverb. That thing sounded so much like a spring reverb tank in an amp it almost scared me, it was like a Fender 3 knob reverb head in a pedal. I will be replacing my EH Holy Grail which I really like with the Wampler very soon. I had a Hall of Fame in my board for awhile but it was too slick sounding for me. If you like a more studio sounding verb or more reverb type effects I would highly recomend it. If your looking for tube amp spring reverb I would highly recommend the Wampler first and the EH second.
One last note, the Wampler, TC, and the EH are parralel units that mix the effect with your dry signel. They don't send all your signel through digital converters.
