So, every pic I've seen is head on front, and although it looks great, what's this "slant" I keep reading about? What actually slants? Anyone got a pic to show us?
;D

The whole cabinet has a 5° slant. You can notice it from a side view. The bottom is deeper than the top. Mine is at the rehearsal space, otherwise I'd take a picture for you. So here is a Photoshopped concept of what it is but to a lesser degree.

Pete, there's about a 1" difference between the cabinet's bottom and top depths. Since the amp is about 20" tall, the math (trigonometry) indicates a few degrees of tilt, just like Paul says. 5% is close enough for rock 'n' roll.

I saw one photo of the angle and went back to look at it and post it here even...but it was sold so no more photo. I'll be posting a good view when & if mine ever gets here! ;D Thanks for the approximation Paul!

I'm with you on that one Mark - I remember it being a big talking point before launch, and then de nada! I really like the idea of the slant or tilt and think it would make a BIG difference gigging. Looking forward to seeing pics of the 3/4 view from all you Maz8 owners - including Lee "when it gets there" !

Yes as Eric noted the standard cab is the basic 1X12 combo cab with the front valance. The Studio cab is a recreation of the ORIGINAL 1X12 Studio Deluxe cab. This is a smaller cab with a cool front slant to the baffle. That is the base of the cab is 10 1/2 " were the top is only 9 1/2". I origonaly copied the idea from older Music Man combo cabs. If you have ever seen the now famous Buddy Whittington 1X12 Studio Deluxe MAZ 38 that's it. It is lighter, and more compact to fit the grab and go overall design of the amp. Loaded with a heavy Celestion Alnico Blue the combo still weighs in at under 37 lbs. Also the cab sounds great. DR.Z

I sure wish the Doc would offer this as a separate cab or one that would accommodate several different amp chassis! I would buy it!

Ah, I see!! It's subtle, but noticeable! I like the idea and wish my 1x10 Z28 had that feature! Actually, I wish I could get a 1x12 convertible studio cab in blonde so I could slot my Z28 into that - that would be cool! ;D

I think some work would need to be done to adjust for the different chassis sizes, though. The studio cab is about 2" wider than the 1x10. I wonder if the chassis bolt spacing is compatible. If not, it could be quite a project. Now, if Doc would do a run of the studio cabs drilled out to accommodate the short-chassis amps....

For the Ghia or Z28, it would need spacers/cleats one each side of the chassis. Probably 3/4" to 1" scrap with one end covered with Nubtex and folded over the edges or just black spacer/cleats to match the front of the chassis, along with the right hole spacing. I think this cab should be available like the 1x10 as a Z X-Cab It wouldn't be difficult to incorporate the chassis holes for the Ghia or Z-28 and you could pick or choose which holes to use depending on chassis. But they would probably be better off spending their time on amps!

You could drill a second set of holes, and get plastic plugs from any truvalue hardware store. My concern would behe matchup on the front. Would there be gaps on the outside edges?

The small chassis amps (Monza, Z-28, Ghia) would have a ~3/4" gap on either side when the chassis is centered in the studio cab.
