Time for the ole "fake knob turn."

Usually I would get the sound guy crying at me right after a very loud, high energy song. So next we would do a slow song, and he'd say, "That's so much better, thanks." I didn't change a thing.

You know, if you could figure out a way to get a shock collar on the sound guy ................?

The sound guy was also the owner of the place. Tiny mostly folk music place that serves food. Worst stage design I'd seen in a long time. The band was big (6 pieces) so I was stuck on this little wing. Carpeted floor with a low hard ceiling. They have had tons of great acts there over the years but the stage is awful.

I got turned down tonight as well, but I was using 18 watts!

8 WATTS?? (even using Z Watts, that's kinda tough!)
But then again, the Doc makes his amps to PROJECT into an audience - they cut through the mix better than anything I've ever heard! Hope you did a dummy turn down on him! ;D

Time for the ole "fake knob turn." I have used this tactic before ! They probably wouldn't have dug the stereo EZG's !! ;D But, I would have brought them out anyway ! Bombs away! !

I married my sound person . . . . after 14 years of marriage . . . . . she's doing better best thing that ever happened though was when I bought her a bass for Christmas. Now she is on stage trying to hear herself over everything else and trying to keep it as a quiet as she can, it does change your perspective when you up on stage once in a while

At LEAST.....pretend to fiddle w/the knobs........ Bitchin' about 8 watts?.....JOKE 'em!!....What about the bass player's 1500 watt 8x10 + 18 ??..........I HATE "house" sound doods...... In fact, I HATE every sound dude that was ever "employed", by every band I was ever in. BUT.........that's just my loving, Southern, "gentile" personality shining thru........

That is my fear- get a really low watt amp and end up playing it on "1". Heck, might as well play acoustic at that point.

You gotta love when they come out with the DB meter. Ever had that douche? I had a guy do that to my amps (granted they were a Tonemaster and Fender Twin both 100 watters but were very low I'm serious!) But the Bass player was easily 3 times louder than I was with his "meter"and I could not hear a thing I was playing. On the last song I opened it up and probably blew his speakers. I was a sound man and I know how to get a good sound out of every instrument. I have told guitar players to turn down myself but when the drummer is louder than you on stage what are we to do I ask??? Speaking of drummers....oh wait I dont have that much time. Well I will say that the drummer in my 3 piece complains every gig that I'm too loud yet I am only matching his volume and then on recordings he is WAY louder than my amp. Sorry for bitching but that feels better.

You want to hear how the electric guitar should be mixed, listen to just about anything the Beatles recorded. Now THAT is how to mix the guitar.

This summer at an ''Out Door Venue '' Remedy on 1/2 power BL on two click and both vols at 10:00. These two JOs came out with their Peter Meters and pulled that crap on us....We brought our own sound after that and they don't work much. Next time they pull out the DB meter i'm whippin' it out To think we spend all this $$ on 1/2 power amps and Brake-Lites and 1x12 cab. Sound guys don't ''usually'' play an instrument.
