Got some new tubes this week for the Jaz. Hope to find some time this weekend to swap them in. Cheers
update* THANKS "Doctorice" - your post got me inspired to get on it and re-tube. Just needed a new V1 (Mullard 12AX7) and V6 (Sovtek 12AX7LPS). Being lazy is what I do best, and I've been dragging my feet for three weeks now. Thanks again for the push Mike - now it sings loud and proud!

I tried several NOS tubes (Brimar, Bugle Boy, GE) but ended up liking the stock tubes best. Maybe I should give them a try again.

After a a more thorough test of my new pre-amp tubes, I ended up replacing the power tubes as well. The amp sounded fine before, but would lose power - until I put it on stand-by. Then it would come back to volume. I put in a matched quad of JJ's - and gave it a romp with my new SLOstortion pedal and my SG. Reverb, tremolo - everything sounds PERFECT. Gotta say again: WHAT an amp! CHEERS
