I really cannot understand the complete lack of love for the Galaxie on the Forum. Am I seriously the last post in over a month. This is a great amp. The clean channel is so sweet. The dirt channel is grand if you can turn this amp up. With the mod all is good. Very versatile to tube and speaker tweakers!

Tony (TROCK) and you are the only guys that own one.
Plus, the MAZ blows it away.
(ducking for cover - and yes, I'm just kidding!! :-) )

Got one here also, a not-yet-modded blonde head. Love the amp, but my gigs tend to be smaller venues. As a result I usually bring a Z combo.

Eddie, I look down my nose at you in a French-like manner and make incredulous noises.
Within two hours of UPS delivering Galaxie head #22 to Midtown Music, it was on the back seat of my car (with seat belt on) on the way home. Channel 1 is so fine.

I say it again and again everytime T-Rock posts one of his Galaxie tunes - the Galaxie is my favorite Z amp. It's just wayyyyy too loud for my needs.

It is way loud for my needs too. I only use channel 1, which is less earth shaking than channel 2. I got a pair of NOS 6L6WGB, which spec at about 20% less output power than regular 6L6GC. I also got some lower efficiency speakers to try out.
Did I mention how nice channel 1 is?

I own one and it's a great amp. I need to get that MV mod. Tony (T-Rock) has convinced me with his posts. I still have never heard the bottom end of an amp like the Galaxie has on that drive channel. WOW!!

So .... you like channel 1 ....... right? Tell me about something that sounds better. ? If you can. Gotta admit, while I do dig Channel 2 ..... I'm on Channel 1 the majority of the time .... ES-339 and SC-245 seem to bring a big ol' grin to my face every time ..... And, yes while I play (and have played) thru other Z Amps .... they all bring somethin' different to the soundscape and I'd be hard pressed to call one better than anuther ... cheers always, Joel

I would start gigs on Ch1 and always end on Ch2, and many times with the airbrake on 0. Love ch2 loud and proud. One night I found one of the pre-amp tube sockets on the ground behind my amp when packing up. The doorman and said the front windows were shaking when I cranked up my leads that night. Too much Dickle (and standing next to a screaming 2x10 Maz Jr) impairs the hearing but when it sounds that good...

I recently bought the new version and I love this amp!
Unfortunately I spent only few times with it and I don't have much to tell, hope I will be soon on stage with my new beast...
BTW: also in my case it's all Tony's "fault"!! ;D ;D

I recently played a gig with my Galaxie in Franklin TN. Reggie Young (if you don't know, google him) came up afterwards and complemented my sound and wanted to check out what I was using.

Where's the love? Must be a Zen thing!
As a new owner of the Galixie the amp amazes me at how well it handles buckers and stays clean. But with a few knob tweaks getting some blusey saturation is easy. All on channel 1. Ch 2 is still in the discovery stage for me, what I can say is that it has a lot of bark & bite with those twin Z 10's.
I love it, Steve

"No love for the Galaxie"??
U peeps, just cannot HANDLE, the love I have for the Galaxie.
I have spent DAYS(time spent touting its virtues) telling you kids about this amp, & have sold prolly a hunnerd of 'em(not personally).
Do some research on Galaxie threads from 2-3-4 years ago.......
I remember when it first came out. It was ALL the rage...for a few months. I managed to get my hands on #3. My GRAND chirrens will pass it down to their GREAT grandchirrens.
Yeah......it really IS.....that good(2 me). 2x6L6/Pentode/Triode/channel switcher/ext. spkr out.....
It was tuff to learn the way the tone stack affects the gain, & b/4 the MV mod....CH2 wud kill CH1, unless U spent the time(read; 20 hours or more) to learn it. AFTER......Shut the front door!!!
The ONLY, & I mean ONLY complaint I have about this amp.......8 Ohms......PERIOD!!.
It wud be PERFECT, if it had 4/8/16 taps. I got a Weber Z-Matcher, JUST so I cud run ANY cab, w/ANY OHM config, w/my Galaxie.
"No Love" ??.............. I gave up on "Check this amp out" verbage, a loooooong time ago.
Posting recordings of it...(w/my minimal talent/recording equipment), however.....
I'm afrett, as long as I can pay the power bill, and got a few fingers that still work....you're pretty much either gonna hava lissen.....or don't. There WILL be Galaxie toonage, Babies.
"No love".....indeed......My work is done, here.
