A couple weeks I posted about the 1 x 12 w the V30 in it, and I ended up putting the Gh12-65 to it and that made me very happy.
So the big question is where I should head with a 2 x 12 setup? Or should I go 2 x 10?
I like small, but I like tone, too...and my gibby 345 likes lots of aural space.
Any rec's on this one?
Cheers, BD

Hey BD, I really like the 2x10's with my EZG. Real tight and punchy (with the Doc's 10's anyway). Sounds like your Gibby may like the 2x12 better but of course there goes "small"... Hearing is believing so you know what you gotta do don't you? Funds permitting of course.

If I were you I'd buy a 2x10 cab. Doc's 2x10 is a great cab and you will be happy with it with other amps as well. Then you will be able to run both if you want to use the EZG for a bigger rig. Get in touch with Todd at PCNS and he will set you up with a splitter cable for 2 cabs.

Anybody got comments on the bass response w Doc's 2x10? How about break up threshold? is it a loud cab? I like full and fat natural tones, crystally clear cleans and a break up at easy volumes. My 1979 Twin did this pretty well, except for the volume part....ouch!! The only 2x10 setup I have experience with is in a combo w a Vibrolux. I didn't care too much for it. the 2x10 has been recomended many times.
Ok, browsing!

I suppose everyone is going to have a different opinion when it comes to the sound of a speaker cab, but I think Doc's 2x10 is pretty neutral. It has a nice full range sound. Thinking about it, I don't think of it as a cab with any one frequency range being highlighted. To me it has a nice even tone.
I find the 2x10 to be a little quieter than some of the 1x12s I have experienced, however it may seem a little louder than the g1265 you are using now. The G1265 is a little less efficient speaker than say a V30.
just my 2 cents.

I believe I remember a post where he mentioned he put insulation in his 2x10 cab to adjust the mid's a bit to even out the response. They do not seem to have the speaker break up of a lot of other 10" or 12" speakers I have used. Certainly less than 12" V30, G12H30, Blues and Greenbacks. I have not received my G12-65 yet but since I believe the 12-65's are supposed to be a higher powered Greenback I suspect they will break up much sooner and have less punch than the Doc's 10's. I am not sure how sensitive his 10" speaker really are. I saw a post in 2005 where he says the sensitivity of the DR.Z tens is 101 dB with a rating of 70 watts each. In 2010 is saw a post by Brent saying they were 96.7 dB so maybe there was a change in speaker design/construction somewhere in between. I have his 10's in a 2X10 cabinet made by J Design and the cab is loud and "punchy" with even tone and tight bass. I really do not notice a whole lot of speaker break up (if any) at the volumes I play at (pre-gain: noon-ish, post-gain 2-ish, brakelite at 3). I got my 10" used either off epay or the forum Buy Sell (can't really remember) so I am not sure when they were made but I suspect they are of the 101 dB variety. I got my EZG to replace my 70's Silverface Vibrolux in my rig. I do like the Vibrolux (I don't have stock speakers) but not as much as the EZG, but that's a different story......

I just put a 2x12 avatar cab together with a warehouse guitars Reaper which is a g12h30 US made and a gt65. It rocks tons of base and punch and very loud.

I put a Weber 12F150, 50 watt, in my Z convertible cab and it has that Fendery goodness, but with tighter lows. I'm a happy camper.
