I have an early Mazerati 1X12 combo. What's the difference between the two?
Thanks in advance

The only thing they have in common is "Mazerati" in both their names... and that they both have a quad of EL-84s. They're two completely different circuits. The Mazerati is more AC30 w/ some Marshall grind when you wind it up. The GT is is a flamethrower just about from the get-go. Incredible smooth gain and sustain w/ amazing touch sensitivity. Although I've never played a Z-Wreck (or a Trainwreck for that matter...), the closest comparison I can make is of a Trainwreck Express. Check out Glen Kuykendall's videos of his '89 Trainwreck Express. I think the tones you can get out of the GT are real similar. And while the GT isn't known for it's cleans, you can get some very nice cleans by rolling your volume back on the guitar. There is very little volume drop at the amp when you do this. In comparison to all my other amps, the GT stays the loudest when you roll back the guitar's volume. It's a pretty loud amp. You almost have to have an attenuator when using this amp (or no neighbors... ). The Z video of the GT is pretty good, too. Check out Steve's (benttop's) "Mazerati GT tribute" on the audio files page, too. It's a phenomenal amplifier.

I think Phil said it best... Or at least I will give him credit... The GT is like having your guitar strings connected directly to the tubes! I love mine... I A/B'd it to a Z-Wreck.. The wreck is smoother .. Maybe less harsh in the mids with my set up.
