I picked up a new Strat style guitar that was loaded with Joe Barden pickups. I'm having a tough time dialing in a tone that isn't similar to the bright tone of a Tele bridge pickup - even when I use the neck pickup on this guitar. The bass strings sound good, but the treble strings are TREBLE to the max.
Just wondering if anyone else has tried this combination and if they were able to dial in a less trebly tone.

I had Bardens in a Tele that were pretty bright and a little tough to tame.
I suspect you're seeing what I was. I think Bardens are just bright.
May you can swap to a lower pot?

Hey there, I've got a set of Bardens in my Tele, and i will tell you that they need to have 250K pots. Even though they're humbuckers, if there's a 500k in there, it will be waaaaay to bright. and also, pickup height is critical to getting it dialed in the way you want. They're very sensitive to that, so a little change in height can drastically alter the tone. and finally, there are 2 ways of "properly" wiring up a set of bardens.... one has the traditional way where you lose some treble as you roll off the volume.... and there is another way where you don't lose it as you roll off the volume. I would go for option A. And if nothing else, you could always just roll off the tone control a little bit. You can always take brightness away, but you can't add it. and finally, if you REALLY can't find a tone that you're happy with.... just send them to me, and I'm sure i can find a use for them. but seriously, if you don't like them, I'd be interested. Hey David, The last Post Was Spot on, a 250k and a .047 Cap will tame those dudes right up! also that PUP height is very critical, Try raising the pickup also dont forget that the Tone stack works Backwards on the Ray ;D It gets darker clockwise. I would love to have a set of Bardens, I had get the Poor man Bardens , Dimarzio's They are very Tone and user friendly I'm very pleased with the pups and the sound stratish without the HUM!!!

It's usually stamped into the bottom of the pot, but you mostly likely have solder on top of that and can't see it.
Volt-ohm meter is the best way. Measure resistance with the volume all the way off.
