I have a Galxie head and no speaker cab for it right now so I have been plugging it into the speakers of my Maz Jr. My question is: are these speakers rated to handle the extra power of the Galaxie? Are all Z 10" speakers the same? If so, then I guess the Maz Sr. is about the same power, as would be a Galaxie 2x10 combo.
I hope this question isn't as dumb as it now sounds to me.

If it's a 2x10 it' is fine. Your question is not dumb. Better safe then sorry.

Those speakers are rated 75W each. With the two of them together they can handle 150 W when wired in parallel. No problems there.

Thanks guys, I'd hate to blow a speaker doing something stupid.
Has he always used speakers rated that high? How can I tell if I have the Dr. Z speakers?

All the Doc's 10s in my possession have big round Z stickers on the back of the magnet cover. Should be visible in an open-back rig.

Hmm, maybe I should move this to the Maz section, but really it's just about the speakers. I looked into the cab and found that I don't have Dr. Z 10" speakers, but Celestion Vintage G10 speakers. Has anyone used these speakers before? Can you compare them to the Z's?

Looks like 60W, so in parallel, 60+60 = 120w. Galaxie is 40w so you're good whether you're wired parallel or series. Just watch your impedance.
