I don't get much time on the Galaxie. My son and I "share" it. He uses it with an Avatar Bluesbreaker style 2X12 cabinet with a G12H and a V30. Sounds great with this combination. I just love it with the DRZ 4X10. What a big sound. If you can get the clean side volume up to where it breaks up a little, you will have the best sounding "tweed" sound ever. Not sure what your application is but you might have to experiment a little to see what you like with the way you are using it. As always YMMV.

I have two Z Convertibles in the 2X10 configuration. I swapped out the Zs in one of them for two Weber AlNiCo Silver 10"s. Very nice. I like them w/ the Gal better than the Zs. I also have two of Weber's AlNiCo Blue Pups, but I don't like them quite as well as the Silver 10"s. The Blues are un-doped, and they don't hold up as well to overdriven sounds.
I would think Celestion's 10" Golds and their 10" Greenbacks would sound pretty good. I love my Gal through Weber's Greenbacks (C1225 & C1230). My 12" Celestion Gold sounds spectacular, too.
I know you asked about your 2X10 combo. I'm just saying that most of the 12"s I mentioned have a 10" counterpart that would sound similar. I know quite a few people enjoy the Gal w/ Greenbacks and Greenback type speakers. I'd like to check out the Celestion 10" Greenbacks myself.

My favorite Gal tone has come through a Marshall 425a loaded with 25w Greenbacks. We also spent a lot of time playing through a 2x10 cab filled with Golds and no doubt that combo produces awesome tone as well. I wouldn't say one was "better" than the other, just different.
Now my Gal and a D-clone are sharing time with a new WGS G12-65 and my Ghia is married to the Golds.
Good luck, hard to go wrong

were the Golds cleaner than the GBacks? I would imagine so,,, Yep, the Greenbacks distort earlier. That's not necessarily a bad thing...
