Nice Steve...aka Bloody Fingers. Funny thing is, when Brad Paisley plays through a Z Wreck, he sounds like Brad Paisley....when benttop plays through a Z Wreck....he sounds like benttop~ Nice licks, nice thick, warm but articulate tone! Thanks for the time & effort.

Cool, Steve. Nice sounds. I miss my Wreck Thought about stuffing some other EL84s in there while awaiting new tubes from Dr Z, but it wouldn't quite be the same.

Well I really did record three different times. The first one I was wanking away, and had some great feel going on there, and I looked up and ProTools was showing a flat line instead of waveforms. I stopped playing and heard a faint oscillation. I had my monitor system muted (down 60db or thereabouts) so I knew something was up. Sure enough, things had gone south halfway through that clip. I did another and managed to get all the way through, but on playback there were a number of places where the sounds were replaced by static and noise. This can't be that hard - there are two mic cords going to the A/D and a Firewire cable going to the PC - it's not like I have two dozen places it can fail. So some troubleshooting appears to be in order. I sure hated to blow away those other two clips - on the first one I was on a real tear.

Dude, You are so industrious. A can-do kinda guy. I just selfishly play mine for two weeks, never rolling tape. You have yours for like 24 hrs and you have clips up already! I'm humbled.
jj
nice wankin', too.

Quick question.....
Does anyone like the sound of their EL84 amps "dimed"? I have a Stangray and a RXES and love the tone at 50% or less in volume. Anything above that it gets too buzzy for me. It also gets way too loud to use in any small to mid size venue ( even with an airbrake).
While the playing was great on that last clip. I could never imagine using that tone. Maybe for some Neil young Crazy Horse type stuff.
I love the Brad Paisley clips on the sight but the Vol is never above 1-2o'clock.
Just curious. Everyone hears things differently

Everyone hears things differently I never play like that. The ONLY reason I dimed it is that experience here has taught me that no matter how I set it, after the first clip the very next question is "but how does it sound dimed?" so I just get that out of the way first. Next clip will be done with the volume at about 2 o'clock. She just purrs right there.

Next clip will be done with the volume at about 2 o'clock. She just purrs right there. That's where I have mine set. A lot depends upon the other amp settings, the guitar being used and the heaviness of one's touch. There are certainly other ways to go with this amp, but if you want to exploit the amazing touch sensitivity of the Z Wreck, this is a good place to start.

By the way, I do prefer being called a Z-Wreckster, but will answer to either name! ;D

Before V4 gave up the ghost, I was enjoying B and T in the 10-11 zone and Vol around 1; Cut was maybe 9-10. Steve's right: the amp really purrs around that V setting. Frankie Starr has some clips of his band jamming with Phil Keaggy a couple nights ago. Phil was playing Frankie's Z Wreck and the tone knobs appeared to be at 9, Cut at noon and Vol also around noon.

Wow ! You saw that ? That's the setting that's working for me. Phil never changed a thing. just plugged in and go. He's old school like that. Man I loved hearing him play the Wreck in person.

Frankie: there was a zoom in on the amp face at some point in one of the videos. I think it was I Got My Eye on You when Phil came on stage. Update: Closeup is at 5:00 mark.
