Hey everyone! I recently acquired this SRZ-65 RH, and I was wanting to replace the Mesa power tubes that are in it. Anyone have any suggestions? I usually play with the gain set to just breakup when I turn my guitar volume all the way up.....kind of a Brad Paisley dirt. I roll off my volume for cleans. I play alot of roots music, country, blues, cajun, zydeco, just a little rock, not much. Any suggestiolns? I have already re-tubed the preamp. Mitch

First generation SRZ's came stock with Brown Base Tesla EL-34's. Excellent tube, not available except in NOS, at a high price.
I use JJ EL-34's close second to original in currant production.
Winged C Svetlana EL-34's are very nice as well.
If you can find a NOS set of Sylvania 6CA7's you'll be in heaven with the SRZ, but all the EVH fans sucked up the 6CA7's for there Plexi's.

Thanks for the Info DR! My SRZ is My Pride-N-Joy, it goes a long long way on the tonal spectrum, How's the R&D on My Stangray/Monza coming? Or better yet how about another 2CH SRZ ;D

Thanks Doc and Jamie for the replies! I contacted Brent at the shop, and he steered me in the right direction. Jamie, I'll let you know if I ever sell. Mitch

Just to let everyone know. As per Brent's recommendation, I got a set of Winged C EL34s for the power section, and a Sovtek 5AR4, for the rectifier. I placed a TungSol 12AX7 in V1, and a Sovtek 12AX7LP in the PI as per his recommendation also. Made a difference for the better! Much smoother! It's nice to be able to talk to the actual BUILDER of the amp, or someone in the shop, about recommendations when you need them. Mitch
