Finally i can say i am a proud owner of a drz head!!!!! i am so stoked i can´t help myself to laugh and smile...
I got a great deal on a ezg 50 in the emporium, of the gear page forum. i live in argentina, did a crazy move and bought a used head, without not even trying out a single z head in my life, but having vast experience with blackface amps and others... i did a good research, and made the move in a leap of faith... IT DELIVERED!!!!
I am running mine with a 1x12, fitted with a celestion 12-65 or a cannabis rex. Still waiting for my 2x12 that´s being made. want to experiment with 2x10 and 4x10 as soon as i can.
i am very pleased with the tone.... very happy.
like everyone, i am very fond of experimenting. i've been a fan of jj tubes, and wanted to try if i could get better tone with them, compared to the groove tubes ge that came in mine.
i did the test, and retubed with jj 6l6gc biased closely to 19 watts dissipation.
i can say, i am extremely pleased with the result. My conclusion is that i have greater punch. A much more detailed and better holding bass response, and the thing that astonished me the most, is what i hear as a better midrange complexity. I find it richer, much more musical and detailed....
i always hear different opinions with jj tubes, some swear by them others hate them.... they really deliver for me and did this time....
Any experience with them, someone?
cheers! santiago

I love the EL84s & 12AX7s, as well as their rectifier tubes, but haven't had any experiences with other tubes.
JJ's are okay with me!

I had two bad experiences with JJ 7027s, and so I wouldn't run the tubes over spec; however, few amps really push tubes too far beyond spec and the JJs seem like rugged tubes when in spec. They're a solid reliable middle of the road tube. They seem to get a lot of mileage out of their 6L6GC design, though. ;D Their EL34Ls are especially good, their EL84s seem like the ones to get right now, and I'm interested in their new 6550s.
I think if you want the ultimate in reliability and length of life for power tubes, SED are the ones to beat, but their selection is limited, and their are plenty of good tubes being made out there, especially 6L6s! JJs are no slouch, a fine choice in your amp. Bias them how they sound best to you, and enjoy them!

I am in the process of experimenting with various tubes, tried SED, Sovtek 5881 WXT+, 6L6 WXT+, orginal RCA black plates, and maybe some others lying around. I really thought the NNOS RCA's were going to be the bomb, they were not in this amp. Same with the SED's....So I am going to try some out at my gig's, but I really think Doc's GT's are the best for it.

yea, i tried the short bottles. good all arounf tubes.....I have used them with good results many times. I would go short bottle if I wanted TAD's. But the originals GT's still sound best to my ears,,,,
