Hi all! I posted this in the other thread, thought I'd start a new one with a more relevant tite in reference to the subject matter that will follow. I hope you guys don't mind -
cut from my other post -
I came home with my BLSA yesterday to use with my Remedy. I run 2 8 ohm Mesa Thiele cabs. From my amp do I use the 8 ohm out or the 4?
On the BLSA, which output do I use if I want to run only ONE 8ohm cab? or does it not matter?

Doesn't matter - they are in parallel, so either one will work fine. Use the 8 ohm output on your amp.

Thanks Steve!
I gave it a run through last night with the Remedy.
Gear used was an 08 strat and a 1980 Les Paul Deluxe into the Remedy > BLSA > then an 8 ohm Mesa Thiele cab and an oversized 1x12 cab with an 8 ohm Red Fang in it.
First, I dimed the Remedy with the settings set like: bass set to minimum, mids set to maximum, treble set to 10 o'clock Volume #1 was at 1 o'clock Volume #2 was at 10 o'clock
First test was the Remedy alone into the thiele cab. Once my ears were use to the tone I placed the BLSA in the line.
Set to 00 - I could hear no change in sound. Set to 01 - no change in tone but a wee bit quieter Set to 02 - no change in tone but drastically quieter than 01 BTW 02 is my favourite!! Set to 03 - the tone changed with this one. Not bad but the Remedy's "balls out" sound was no longer there. I would say it was the drop in volume and less air pressure that I felt at this point. Also, I could hear a bit more "sizzle" or hair on the edge of the sound on this setting that was not there when bypassed or set to 00 or 01. Set to 04 - revealed much of the same as 03 but another HUGE drop in volume. The "sizzle" as I call it is even more present at this setting and the result is a very musical tone but not reminiscent of the Remedy cranked and by passed.
Same results with singles and with buckers.
Over all I am STOKED to have the BLSA as part of my rig. It will have its place for sure. NOTHING can nail that dimed Remedy sound but a Dimed Remedy. The BLSA gives you a great opportunity to dime out your amp and keep it tolerable in a small room. #4 is great for home, #3 is great for home during the day when nobody else is there. #2 is awesome anytime but for stage, it is my opinion that this is where its at. #1 didn't do it for me as it may as well have been left out of the chain.
2nd test was with another 8 ohm cab in conjunction with the Mesa Thiele. Amp out into the BLSA then split there into 2 cabs. How cool! I used the 8 ohm output and later the 4 ohm output BEFORE I READ YOUR REPLY TO USE THE 8OHM OUT STEVE. Each revealed the exact same results as noted above anyway. It makes sense to use the 4 ohm output but I'll check with the Doc on that one and report back unless he pipes up here first.
For fun, we ran the BLSA between the output section of a Victoria 2112 and into a Celestion V 30. Man, that amp was just SICK when dimed out and running through the BLSA set to #3 and #4 options. You desperately want to hear that amp cranked and to use your guitar volume for leads or what have you but the bottom end flub and low watt sizzle/noise can turn you off a bit. The BLSA was fantastic here as the bottom end flub was gone and you were left with this super thick gain and overdrive that was nothing short of magnificent. Everything I wish the Vic was on its own and dimed out.
I wish I would have tried it with the MAZ but I sold mine in in favour of an inbound Dr Z amp. That is for another thread when I get that bad boy home.
Dr. Z, another very, very fine piece of musical gear you and your gang created with this Brake Lite Stand Alone. Thank you sir!
If you are considering this as part of your tool chest, I recommend it highly!
I won't say that it sounded like a Z amp cranked with a boost in front then mic'd and coming through your control room speakers because it doesn't - but its close. Very close.

From Brent via email:
"You'll want to use the 4 ohm out. Running 2 cabs put the speakers in parallel."
Thanks for the clarification Brent, I figured as much.

10-4 good buddy, thanks again Steve!
I had a chance to really crank the Remedy recently. I found that when I settled on a sound on half power, the #1 setting on the BLSA was perfect! I sat in the mix soooooo perfectly!!!
What a great and useful piece of gear this thing is!!!!
