Has anybody compared these two pedals side by side? I'm interested to know what the differences are. Considering on the Ghia having a simple tone control I would guess having the bass and treble controls on the RC would be a nice feature. However, the fat boost has a tone control knob as well and is liked by many. I love boost pedals with a cooking amp and would like to hear back from people who have compared these two pedals.

Fat boost is darker to me , I have both Do you use both or prefer one over the other? I'm just trying to find out if it would be worth it to own both.... or if just having one booster would be enough. I'm also curious which one I would like best out of the two. Thanks for the reply.

I suggest if you want two clean boosts to take one of these routes:
1) Two RC booster's 2) An RC and AC booster 3) An RC and BB booster 4) Or heck get an RC, AC, and BB that's my goal
I can't speak highly enough of the xotic line of pedals, plus they take to the Z's really well. If you start off with just getting an RC booster you won't be dissappointed that's what I did. I plan on replacing my reissue TS-808 and Jeckl & Hyde with the AC and BB.

I posted this question on another thread..............but maybe it got lost in the mix..... Does it make sense to own an RC....and a compressor(I have the keely)......just curious since the compressor gives you a boost that sounds similar to me as the sound clips for the RC. I have an AC on the way and will be purchasing a BB as well.........I just wondered if I could get by with the Keely, AC an BB........... or am I way off here? ? It seems like both pedals ( the RC and keely comp)give you that expansive "bigness" to your clean tone............I was thinking the only difference would be in the additional gain you could get from the RC that the comp is not made to do....................but it seems like you could just set your AC and BB to cover mild OD to medium OD..............and use the keely as a clean boost... Any ideas , as usual, would be appreciated! James

The RC is boost. Bigger, fuller sound. A compressor will squish your sound (compress) and even things out. You can use a compressor for boost, but I don't. I run both, and the tone is killer.

Most people run the boost before the OD pedals, but I like to run mine after. I am thinking about trying another before the OD at the same time. I am afraid I will get all kinds of unwanted noise, but what the heck.

I've tried it both ways, and I just like the way the RC kicks up the signal w/ very little coloration so it's just "more" of the sound. But I do have it before my envelope filter. tomtheguitarguy
