Is it just me, or does the Zen not really clean up very well? I've only used mine in my practice room and on two gigs, one with a clean Ghia and one with my 38 Studio Lead with a little hair on it, and when I turned my guitar down it still seemed a little boxy and mid rangey. The clean guitar tone didn't really reassert itself.

it cleans up fairly well for me. I still love mine as much as the day I got it. It's very much part of my tone.

The clips on his website are all pretty heavily distorted. I like a little overdrive, added harmonics and compression from a pedal. If the gain is set very low can you get sort of a blackface fender on 6 kind of drive? If the gain is low like that will it clean up when the guitar is turned down?

Ole Bluezsteel keeps his gain like around 9 o'clock.

I just got one and so far I'm very impressed with it. It really excels at the low to medium overdrive stuff. I'd love to have two to cover both bases!
