Any Klon Centuar users here? I'm seriously considering one for my rig & want to know what current owners/users think of the pedal.
Is the Klon Centaur worth the price of admission??

I'm on my 2nd one. It's a great pedal equaled for what it can do. But you MUST have your amp cranked in order for it to get you where you want to go. I don't have mine on my board, but it's not going anywhere. As for "worth" that's in the ears of the beholder. I don't know if it would be my desert island pedal.

Have you tried your Klon with the Mini-Z ? I'd like to know what you think of that combo.

I run my Klon with the RX ES or a Super Reverb. I used it for 5 years or so as just a clean boost. But when I started searching for a new overdrive pedal I tried the overdrive on this and was impressed all over again.
With the overdose switch on and the amp about 9 o'clock the Klon at (aprox.) gain-1 o'clock, tone 12 o'clock, volume (set for a slight boost) it is my favorite blues tone I've found so far.

I have used a Klon (I have both gold and silver units) and used at least one since '98. One set up for gain, one as a clean boost. But times change But to be perfectly honest, I find a combo of Xotic RC and AC boosters to be far more versatile both on the OD front and as a clean boost. I'm a nut about my love for low powered amps cranked...a confirmed Deluxe Reverb guy but have switched to all small Z amps (except a Maz Sr for festivals or outside gigs). I always run my amps in that narrow "verge of breakup" region and use boosters to largely to push it over the top into it's own overdrive. Like the Klon, these two Xotic pedals excel at this... but I have to give the nod to the Xotics for sheer versatility and transparency. I used to use a Keeley Java Boost and Time Machine Boost, but the Xotic's EQ abilities just left them in the dust for my application in a blues band. Some purists will moan about having EQ on a booster, but the Treb and Bass knobs on the Xotics feel like an extension of the amp...I use them for fine tuning. Bottom line... the Klon is no slouch, but the Xotics (and a tuner) are now my only pedals taken to gigs.
