Didn't they tell you that you have to buy a Z first before you ask questions? Otherwise no-one will answer you. ???JK
Are you asking if you can have this at reasonable volumes and still get high gain ?? If so yeah. It's a loud amp but it has such a good MV it can get anywhere you need it to be.

The SRZ-65 can function as a "high-gain, low volume" amp by using the Master Volume at it's lowest settings and the gain knob cranked. Of course, it doesn't sound best like this (it is not as sensitive to picking dynamics and the amp feels a bit stiffled) but it still sounds pretty good.
I waited for months to find one on e-bay and couldn't at the price I wanted. So, I ended up getting one brand new. No regrets here. It is a powerful and flexible amp. If you like gutsy JCM 800 style semi-clean to crunch tones with a master volume, than you will love the SRZ-65!

I'm not sure what DH means but that's not the best way to get started when you want advice..

Mr. gnshg...... I really don't think Rickenbacker53 meant any disrespect with his initial response to your question. Sounded like some friendly "welcome aboard newbie" humor to me made clear by the humorous face followed by J.K. (ie just kidding). I do happen to be smart enough to figure out what DH means; thus I believe you missed his humor or chose to ignore it. Either way, welcome to the forum. Rickenbacker53...... I got it! Merks.

The 65 is loud. It can be backed down with an Airbrake and the MV is very good. For crunch tones I like the SRZ-65 or a Remedy with a boost. The MAZ is way, way different sounding and hard to compare really.
But yeah, you gotta play nice on this forum if you want much in the way of useful info.
That's all I have to say on the subject.
