Guys...I'm in a never ending search for a great chorus pedal. I've tried a bunch. I know the Boss CE-2 mono japanese deals are decent, but it is so hard to find a great one...I tried several that each sounded different. I heard about the H20 liquid chorus from Visual Sound. Anyone know anything about it?

I've heard good things about it, but I've never played one. I've got the MXR chorus pedal. The big yellow one, it's not a bad chorus pedal.

I have an original tc electronics chorus/flanger that I got in the late '80s (before tc went out of business and re-formed) and it is outstanding. I haven't played other choruses because I don't feel the need to do so. It was pricey then, it's pricey now, but IMO I got what I paid for. For the record, I don't use it that much -- strictly on chord work for tunes that seem to need it, like Floyd's Brain Damage -- but it really excells for giving a nice swirl and depth.

You could buy my CE2 and have Keeley mod it for you...

I had the H20, but I sold it as soon as I tried the Fulltone ChoralFlange....It is 2x the price but worth it IMO.

The Foxrox Paradox Thru Zero Flanger is primarily the greatest flange pedal ever...but with the BB analog chips it is also has a beautiful chorus with the turn of a few knobs. It's as nice as any chorus I've ever heard and very shape-able. Plus you can immitate a bunch of other modulation sounds, (vibes, leslie's etc) if you wish and they all sound great. www.foxroxelectronics.com/TZF1.html

The Keeley CE2 mad is a very good choice. I bought a older green label Japanese pedal several months ago of ebay. It will be headed to Keeley shortly. I played through his mod pedal the other night and fell in love. I am going for the Hi-Fi mod only. Don't need the seedy, swirly stuff.

I've been through every chorus pedal imaginable. That is, until my Choralflange. It's the shizzle...

Hey Bluesteel, the Foxrox TZF is the only flanger that can "really" replicate that song. You need a flanger that can go through the "zero" point and cancel out. There is even a setting in the manual for it. Mind you it is pretty expensive.

The TC Electronic Chorus/ Flanger is the best I've heard. Haven't tried the Choral Flange, but I've heard great things about it.
The Tri-Chorus setting on my Line 6 is very cool. It kinda has that 80's Toto vibe going on. I'd love to hear the real thing, but they're very hard to find.

I'll weigh in
I've had the h20 for about a year and have been happy with it although I haven't had much experience with other chorus pedals..
I run it through my Jr effects loop (NR model) and have found it doesn't kill volume and you can dial up some very cool tones. I believe it is a true bypass pedal, but not for sure... it sounds better to me than running into the front of the amp.
I don't use it often, but several of our songs I do feature it. It also has a separate Echo unit on the pedal that is not very useful in my opinion.
I do like it better that my friends Boss CE-2 (stock)
I think you would be happy with it.

H20 sounds really good. Think Mike Stern-type chorus, but mono. Much better than the Boss. I just got the EH poly chorus. Got it cheap, without ever hearing it. Sounds very good, also better than the Boss. Need to adjust it some: It gets overloaded by humbuckers and the dry/wet ratio seems set to 0/10. Not good for me. I like a sublter level of effect.

I picked up a Maxon CS9 Pro last year and I really like it. It sounds great and it's got a blend knob so I can dial in just a bit of chorus for overdriven tones or more for the cleaner stuff. AND it's true bypass (well, supposedly - that seems to be a gray area with some manufacturers).

Don't use it a whole lot, but I love my DLS Chorus-Vibe. A lot less $ than similar pedals, true bypass, and it sounds incredible when run in stereo. It also does a pretty decent leslie/vibe thing.

I think the H2O is one of the best out there and its a great value, with the delay as well. Be sure to get the newest version. Bob Weil started having his own BBD chips made for it and when I compared the new version to the old, the difference was substantial. The newest, while slightly noisier (no big deal), was MUCH richer and deeper. I think the new H2O blows the Choral Flange away. I find the Choral too grainy on the top end. The H2O is SMOOTH. Also, the Maxon CS-550, the big one, is killer too, if you can find one.

I have the MXR M-134 ... Great pedal, great price, very lush and "organic" ... love the bass and treble controls. I don't use chorus that often so I felt bad dishing out big $$$ for it.

+1 Fulltone Choral Flange. The TC is great too, but it will suck tone when not engaged. Choral Flange is true bypass.
