Has anyone tried a T.C. Jauernig Electronics Luxury Drive? Has anyone tried the Xotic RC Boost? I like the other Xotic pedal I have, but I like the price of the Luxury Drive. Any other Boost pedals you would recommend?
Thanks

I use the Tonefactor Hellbaby, Hellbilly and Crowther Audio Hotcake, mainly for boosting (occasionally for OD sounds)... but I really prefer turning the amp up some and then kicking it with a boost.... HELLO! All of these pedals sound great, there are a ton of boost pedals available in almost all price ranges. I think the McBoost pedal from Pedalworx is similar to the Hellbaby... same guy, Bob McBroom, builds (built) both of them (Hellbaby is discontinued due to being too awesome for regular production).

I don't really use pedals, but I LOVE the Luxury Drive. Warms up just about any ol' forlorn backline Twin w/ saggy reverb springs, just twist 'er up to the sweet spot. Tim told me he gets requests for 'em without a switch, so it just stays on ALL the time! Don't be misled, this ain't an 'overdrive' pedal. Just a 'little extry' on the input. No dramatic fuzz, just good warm sound, and improved dynamic response in conjunction w/ the volume control on the git-tar.

I use an Addrock Boostmaster. It's not an O/D, but it can add some hair to the sound. It just seems to boost the right frequencies to me. I love it.
If I were to try another, the Durham Sex Drive would be the one. Great clean boost with some compression options.

Got a Fulltone Fat Boost that I like with all my amps on there clean channels, but works with my Shiva the best, on ANY channel. I also like the Voodoo Labs Sparkle Drive, that mix knob is a cool option, the sound just gets HUGE with the gain dimed and the clean knob turned up a bit. Very nice indeed.

I've been pretty happy with my ZVex S.H.O. It has a very clean sound if that's what you're looking for.

I ended up getting the Luxury Drive. Very clean boost, not quite as good as the RC but close.

The lowest price I saw for an RC is $170, and they are hard to find used. That tells me something right there. I found a used Luxury Drive for $75. I'm not a cheap person, just affordable!!! For the money I couldn't turn it down. I think in the long run I will have the RC, but the more I play the Luxury Drive I like it. BW also gave it a thumbs up and the comments I got here were right on the money.
The RC has a Volume, Gain, Bass and Treble knobs. More knobs, more sounds, more tweaking. The Luxury Drive has only one knob for gain, and the trim control for use in a loop. The one plus with the luxury drive is it does not change your tone, and will really slam the front end of your amp if you crank it up. Right now I barley have the gain up, and there is a noticeable boost/ fuller sound. My Ghia really likes it.

The RC might have four knobs, but to me it's very easy to get a great sound out of it. I have a lot of the popular "boost" pedals and the RC was the one that ended the search. It's one of the few pedals I'll put between me and my Z's, which is the highest compliment I can give an effect. I start with all the knobs on the RC at 12:00. I usually only add just a little bass or treble, keep the level at around noon and adjust the gain to taste. Heck, just leaving all the knobs at noon sounds great with all my Z's. Whoever voiced those tone controls knew what they were doing.

When I take the time to haul my pedal board out, I have a Time Machine Boost on there that really is a great boost. The bonus is that the pedal also has another effect built in too - a distortion with a couple different possible voices. But the boost is what I was after, and it is a good one.

I just got a Pro Analog Power Driver...it's a very cool box. The clean boost "rivals" my Klon, and it can do an OVER-THE-TOP fuzz too. There's just something about X-sister based OD's that just kill! I'll try to make some sound clips of the PD this weekend.

Try a KLON Centaur if you get the chance. It does the clean boost thing very well, makes a strat sound huge while keeping in character.
With my Junior and a humbucker guitar, working the gain on the KLON against the volume control on the Junior I can get anything from punchy clean to brown blues tones all the way to cranked Marshally "Crossroads".
With a Tele it will knock your socks off.

I'm having great luck with my Boostier. It's a great clean boost - very Klon-like and it was a heck of a lot cheaper.

Gentleman, I am really impressed with the Luxury Drive. I got a chance to give it a workout tonight and am very impressed. I think I will hold off on the RC for a while.
